now only 3 vote down there on your behalf
including your mayor who was there back then too when the change was made
& when Acton was given more even control of your town council as well

The Town is divided into four wards, each of which elects two local councillors.
sadly now, only 2 Halton regional councillors are also elected
& paid another stipend & benefits on top of the amount paid by the Town
One from Wards 3 and 4 (i.e., the area in the former Town of Georgetown),
even though the present councillor doesn't even live in Georgetown
- one from Wards 1 and 2 (i.e., the area that was in the former Town of Acton and the former Township of Esquesing),
meaning the rural area won't likely ever have their own representative ever again
as Urban vote counts usually trump the rural area
While some people are still trying to connect the dots of how a new virtually unknown ward 4 candidate
could win over an incumbent while neither lived in the ward
a few clues come from the Ford's in Toronto
... Richard Ciano now PC Tory party president and Nick Kouvalis,
the backroom strategists who propelled the self-confessed 300 pounds of fun councillor into the mayors chair ...
similar to how the present day mayor in Halton Hills,
then just a local Liberal councillor,
won a regional seat : the Mayor is elected at large.
Even though the Mayor and the regional councillors represent the Town at the council meetings in Oakville ( Hwy # 25 & QEW )
of the Regional Municipality of Halton but most news down there never reaches local newspapers ...
