Fire calls:$10,000 kitchen fire in Acton home
Halton Hills Fire Department has released its weekly incident summary for August 26 to Sept. 1.
Monday, August 26
Fire fighters responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of Palomino Trail and River Drive, 6:43 a.m. A pickup truck lost control coming down the hill and struck the bridge railing. No one was injured or trapped, but fluids from the truck were leaking towards the river. Crews contained the fluids and advised public works for clean-up.
Fire fighters responded to a possible kitchen fire on Kingham Road in Acton at 2:24 p.m. Upon arrival on scene, staff met with the homeowner who was already out of the home. He advised that he had a grease fire on the stove and the fire was out. When the first crew opened the door the house was full of smoke. Staff called an ambulance for the homeowner as he was burnt on his stomach and chest from grease splatter. The first crew in confirmed the fire was out and ventilated the home. The homeowner was taken to the hospital for treatment and later released. Damage to kitchen is estimated at $10,000
