Peel Regional Police are looking for a suspect after a woman was assaulted in an early-morning break and enter at a Mississauga home.

Police say a male intruder broke into a home near Mavis Road and Eglinton Avenue West, then assaulted a sleeping 54-year-old woman at about 12:30 a.m.

The victim was not injured in the incident, according to police.

The Special Victims Unit is investigating, and police are reminding members of the public to secure all doors and windows before leaving their homes or going to bed at night.

Police said the suspect is about five-foot-eight, with dark or black wavy hair. The man was wearing a green coat and dark pants at the time of the incident. The suspect fled on foot
