A young man was taken to hospital in critical condition after a stabbing outside a Mississauga IMAX theatre Monday evening.

The victim, possibly a teenager, was stabbed multiple times on Rathburn Rd., Peel Regional Police Const. Thomas Ruttan said.

“It appears he was stabbed in his chest area right around the heart,” Ruttan said, adding the victim is now in stable condition.

Police first received reports of the stabbing at 6 p.m., which occurred just northwest of the Square One shopping centre.

“We determined that there was some sort of an altercation between two groups. It’s not gang related, but weapons were produced. What those weapons were I’m not sure of yet,” Ruttan said.

Another young man was struck in the head. He was brought to hospital with minor injuries.

No one has been arrested and Peel Regional Police haven’t released a description of any suspects.

The area was taped off as police officers canvassed the area, searching for clues and speaking to witnesses
