A 73 year old woman and her dog are both dead after they were hit by an SUV in Caledonia.

Provincial police say the woman and her dog were crossing a street (at Caithness and Banff) last night around 8:30 when they were struck.

Police say the woman, whose name hasn`t been released, died at the scene, and her dog died a short time later at a veterinary clinic.

The 23 year old woman driving the SUV wasn`t injured.

There`s no word on possible charges as police continue to investigate
