Cross-Province Hearings on Homecare Reform You are invited to be a part of creating a renewed vision for homecare in Ontario by participating in cross-province hearings on homecare reform. The goal of these hearings is to open up the current discussion about homecare policy options to all Ontarians who are interested. We are holding five public hearings across the province and inviting a wide range of stakeholders (patients/clients, family members, seniors and advocacy groups, volunteers, providers, workers, interested residents, CCACs, academic community) to give written and oral submissions on homecare reform to our panel of experts. The hearings will not be limited: anyone wishing to make a submission is welcome. The final report will be independent – written by three panelists who will oversee the hearings: Carol Kushner, Health Policy Analyst and Author; Patricia Baranek, Health Services and Policy Research Consultant and Author; and Marion Dewar, former mayor of Ottawa, representing seniors. The hearings are sponsored by SEIU local 1 Canada, and endorsed by: Canadian Pensioners Concerned, Toronto Health Coalition, Older Women’s Network, CareWatch- Toronto, Ontario Coalition of Senior Citizens’ Organizations, Alliance of Seniors/Older Canadians Network, Ontario Federation of Union Retirees, Congress of Union Retirees Canada, SOAR, ARM Chapter 12- Toronto (Retired Secondary School Teachers) Hearing Dates and Deadlines Monday, June 9 – Toronto Tuesday, June 10 – Sarnia (including Lambton) Wednesday, June 11 – Peterborough (including Lindsay, Kawarthas, Durham) Thursday, June 12 – Ottawa Monday, June 16 – Thunder Bay Oral and written submissions are welcomed.
