Warm winter ahead for most of Canada
A warning is posted on Jan. 5 along the edge of Winnipeg's Assiniboine River, which has ice one to two metres thick during a normal winter.

A warm winter predicted now. We are over the hump of our worst cold spells by now. We could have a big storm or a few really cold days but not events that would shape how our winter went in a negative way. I can say that without hundreds of years of records and thermometer! It doesn't sound as if Winnipeg is the only place enjoying a moderate winter climate.
Predictions made halfway through the season are less interesting than those preceeding the event.

Less snow during the winter it means water shortage during the summer.
