Aeroplan claims it notified me last year that my point would expire in March 2011 if I did not keep my account current. I never got the e mail that they maintain they sent me. A thorough search of my e mail accounts failed to find the notification. 300,000 points were taken from me. If they sent me an email it was only one and based on my not finding it somehow itís lost in cyberspace. Having done business with other companies who notify me when accounts expire I get notices, dozens of notices as the days tick down to the account expiring. Not Aeroplan. Apparently the brainchilds there felt one e mail that probably ended up in many junk or spam folders was enough notice. Excuse after excuse has been given to me about why they will not return the points. Their reps said the onus was on me to know about my account status especially with the publicity expiring points got in the Globe and Mail and National Post. Problem is those newspapers are not sold in Las Vegas where I live. That answer didnít hold merit in their repís eyes or ears. They asked me on two occasions if I had flown Air Canada prior to my points expiring. I asked them flown? They said yes. No other conditions. They said no. I gave them the info on two flights I took in 2010. Oh those flights didnít count either. They drew a new line in the sand saying I flew on points from another Aeroplan account so that doesnít count. Then they ask if I had purchased anything from their partners. Esso is not a US Service Station in Nevada and due to the poor economy and my job I could not travel for a few years. Clearly Aeroplan had an agenda to wipe out as many points from customers as it could. From what Iíve read it could be hundreds of millions of millions probably worth millions of dollars. I was offered the opportunity to buy my points back at a penny a mileÖthatís almost $3,000.00. Aeroplan and its executives need to be made an example of. This little club exists because of people like myself who supported the airline during touch times. They reward that loyalty by stealing from the very people who kept the airline in business. Here is hoping that Aeroplan will get hammered in court if and when the Class Action is heard. Couldnít happen to a better shoddier organization. Shame on you Aeroplan

This is a scumbag company that steals people's points. If they want to close people's accounts due to inactivity that's fine but they should pay out the points value. It's sort of like if someone pays you money for a service and you decide you don't want to deal with this person, you would simply return the money to them but you have no right to steal their money. If this theft happened in another country the executives would go to jail or be threatened with violence but not here, they simply get bigger bonuses from stealing other people's money.

Last year my wife and I went to use some of our 125,000 miles only to find we had 0. I had to buy back some of them for $700.00 and then we could fly. I would love to join. Please contact me. randycosman@yahoo.ca

In a similar position. Flew to Thailand and had my points taken as "they had expired"!! Mad at Aeroplan or what. Chose not to purchase the points back at the time because I was furious. Did you get any information about where to join the lawsuit.

I now have over 500,000 Aeroplan miles (had as many as a million) and recently recieved an email from them telling me that they will expire at the end of 2013. I had heard rumors of this in the past and phoned Aeroplan at least twice to ask if this was so. I was told that they would only expire if I was inactive for a year. I was not able to travel for pleasure when I was busy working... and giving all my flying business to Air Canada and their partners. Now that I am retire and able to travel with my wife, I find myself in a situation whereby I cannot posibly use up these miles (points) in a little more than one year. Very unexpected and unfair thus would like to add my name to the class action lawsuit. Can anyone give me more information? ray37pip@gmail.com

I had 135,000 points and my wife was fighting a losing battle with cancer and I had to take care of 7 kids as well as tending to her needs as well as working full time. I didn't want to fly anywhere at that time so my points were stolen. this is like confiscating my savings account because I didn't make a transaction within a year. That is robbery and where is the government in this matter?
