Court martial resumes in Halifax for soldier accused in Afghan killing

But it was friendly fire. Why are charges so hard in this case? There are many evident war criminals and evident genocides, who have murdered Afghan children, Afghan woman, Afghan civilian men or even dozens of tousends of these insurgents, who are civilians too and there are no charges against them. But one accidental shoot at fellow and it is big trial at once. It was probably accidental friendly fire and nothing more, no crime.

This is a touchy one, and being originally from Glace Bay I will tread lightly. I am currently a serving member of the Forces, and have been to Afghanistan twice. I can understand some peoples confusion over this, seeing as how they were friends and such, but this goes much deeper then this. Fact of the matter is that someones life was taken (regardless of the circumstances). Its easy for others to come to conclusions (including myself), however unless you are part of the investigation we are not privy to the full details involved. It is a sad case and that young soldier will have to live with this for the rest of his life, something the victim cannot do.
