For those who wonder why Winnipeg is where it is,

you can thank the CPR and

land speculators for rejecting Selkirk,

which is a better location for a major city.

The same crazy politics put Regina in the middle of nowhere with no natural water body nearby.

It was supposed to have been built in the Qu'Appelle Valley,

which is gorgeous and has water.

Both Winnipeg and Regina are victims of CPR and land speculator politics.

But they are there now and I am glad that politicians are FINALLY forcing people to move away from the most flood-prone areas around Winnipeg.

Now if the province would only stop subsidizing wealthy cottage owners by helping them pay the education portion of their property taxes.

But that's a topic for another day ...
