Check your grocery bill carefully!

A few months ago we started seeing that nine out of ten times when shopping at the Bobcaygeon Valu-Mart®, there were discrepancies as to what the item's we bought should cost. Nothing major; we would buy .25 cent dinner rolls and pay for .55 cent crusty rolls instead, or buy normal tomatoes and be charged the price of organically grown. For jalapeños we would be charged twice the price of yellow Hungarian peppers, and so on.
For the most part, this always took place at the express checkout, which is at the customer service counter and is usually staffed by what appears to be management.
Yesterday was the event that takes the cake, pun intended. We were sold 2 (two) bran muffins at the cost of $21.78! The bill can be viewed on my Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/joe.berta.1
As always lately, we stepped ahead to get out of the way and to scrutinize the bill. Then we asked to lady to correct the mistake and received a refund. I often see the mistakes being made as being added up, but I always want to give the cashier the chance to realize it, plus I want to refund receipt, so I always wait until the transaction is completed. It is difficult to fathom how a thinking adult person can enter 22 muffins and in actuality handle onyx two of them in bag!
Now, far be it from me to accuse of any purposeful doing, but let's consider our little town's demographics. 90% of the shoppers entering the Valu-Mart® in Bobcaygeon fall into one of two categories: cottagers / tourists who do not look at their bill and just want to get out of the store and back to their barbecue, and retirees who probably do not have their reading glasses to see what they are paying for. The latter is where I belong until I caught on, and I now wonder how much money have I lost first!
Conversely, if only a few cents is mistakenly added to a few hindered transactions a day, that is a handsome amount in the favor of the merchant! Personally, I rather give the money to my favorite charity, so Valu-Mart®, please place a jar for the Humane Society!

i think cashiers are asked to do this as most people wont notice and the store remains profitable on the customers purse or wallet
