Cerberus has an agenda that must be met and a timetable in which to get it all done. If any of it falls through the cracks, they will part-out Chrysler so fast it will make your head spin.
For those of you who want a peek behind enemy lines I suggest you run to your local video store and rent the 1987 movie, Wall Street. It’s about a Wall Street guru who attempts a hostile takeover of a company for one reason, MONEY! Trust me on this, your hair will stand up on end at the similarities in that movie and what’s going on at Chrysler. The front is one of cooperation and a goal, an unattainable goal. Once this goal is not achieved then a smiling Cerberus will give the ol’“hey guys, we tried” speech and proceed with doing business their way! I don’t believe Cerberus, LaSorda, or the UAW! I’m preparing myself for the next stage in life, a stage in which crooks stole my job and my families well being.

It's Over. That is probably the most intelligent post I've ever read on these boards. What amazes me is that people who can't write a complete sentence or spell their/there/they're own name make 28-60 bucks an hour.

70k for giving up your life. That's two years pay. When you are working the 40hr work week. You know like normal people do. In 31yrs I can count the 40hr weeks on two hands and a foot. Why don't you try it some time. Of course your body won't let you bend and count your toes. So I guess what I'm trying to say is. In a depressed job market you take it and learn how to "Stay the course" with the help of your Brothers and Sisters . Of course I don't think you would have that in you. Like so many others who complained about our wages; and quit after day one. The wages are high because the work sucks along with the 60-70hr weeks. Who's that kid driving your car? Oh that's your son who you never see. Go cry on some other post; about how unjust we are for putting our kids through collage so they can have a better shot at life.

Hurry and find the correct spelling for the wrong word and miss the meaning; once again.

Sounds like you are the one crying. Don't worry, it's not just the workers. There's plenty of blame to go around between the money grubbing unions, corrupt overpaid company management and overpaid lack of work ethic employees. Those three intities have priced themselves right out of business. The only people that can afford the inferior vehicles you build are now out of work. You complain about working 60 to 70 hours a week. Christ, most of us don't have the chance to work overtime for the big bucks you guys do/did. In your "31" years you made over 3 million bucks. You had full medical coverage and now you are collecting a big pension. I'd say you made enough to put your kids through "college". So, no...I don't feel sorry for you. They overpaid you to use your body because that what you had to sell. Don't forget to grab a handful of cash and anything that isn't nailed down as you guys go out the door. Typical. The cash cow is dead. Move on.

Sounds like you have a few; well more then a few resentment issues. I asked for no sympathy, and wouldn't expect you to understand. Never having to work the hours is a two way street. There are such things as quality of life, over the quantity in life. You may have had a better life and more normal life in the long run. So don't be so ashamed of it. In the long run N.A.F.T.A. had more to do with putting us down the road to destruction. Along with the Stock holders and the day traders who always want to see a climb in the returns. If you think that we (The Auto Workers) are the reason we are still building these gas guzzlers and charging an arm and a leg for them, I would have to correct you. We don't have a voice. Money is the only totem that is revered and cherished in this society. If we made 6 dollars an hour, then the company would make 30k per vehicle instead of just 12k. Look around sometime at the people in our society, look at how big the houses are. They aren't needed and neither are the biggest cars and trucks. But in todays world of me, me, me. I guess bigger is better. More people to look at you, and go "Gee" I wish I was that loser. You know the Bill Gates (MicroSoft)type, that put money into local schools for the headlines' then send jobs overseas. I guess he needs more. Oh and only one thing that I didn't agree with. You said " most of us don't have the chance to work overtime." It was never a choice, unless you call a choice being fired. Am I ashamed of taking 70k to retire? No. Was LaSorta ashamed of putting us in the hole by overbuilding? I doubt it. Look at what they paid him.

They money was great. I took the buyout. The jobs are not as easy as people think. I am 29 yrs. old. I worked there for 9 yrs. I have carpal Tunnel in both hands, My right rotator cup is shot. I think I earned my 100k to get out. I ran a job for 2 yrs. that required installing 4 pieces using a hammer screwdriver and a press running a cycle time of 3.6 pieces per minute. That is one part about every 18 seconds. That gives you just over 4 seconds per part using a press that takes 2 seconds to travel. Tell me how easy that is. I watched people quit because of jobs like that. When I hired in I had to go through testing to se how fast I could work. That is why they pay us the wages they do. I was a 3rd generation worker I grew up seing my dad 6-8 hours a week. I will spend more time then that with my children.

That's right Brother, children need more family time and less HBO time. On this thread unfortunately I don't think most of these people understand the place. Too busy crying about car prices, they don't get the big picture. The Corp will price things to whatever the market will handle. The Corp, will work us to death (after they break our body). Thet guy who cried that we got paid for using our body's. Obviously has never had to work so hard, as to hurt him/her self. They wouldn't believe some of the story's we could share. And with the exception of the few who came and quit on day one, I don't expect them ("their kind") to understand. I hope things work out in your favor Brother/Sister. I'm out with 31yrs in and have had many friends (not just acquaintances ) take the money and leave, hopefully to start up their own business.

Mihat thank you brother. I hope everything works out ok for you. My dad and an uncle are still drawing a pension. I hope every thing works out ok for them because they both are still in their mid 50's and in good health. I would hate to see them loose the pension they worked 30 yrs to get. With the buy out I will be debt free. I plan on starting a business myself. My wife is going to school to be a nurse. Between The to of us we will make alot more money, plus we won't have any debt.
