Whoa, social control sure is great hey? Just because dark associations can be made with Nazi Germany and the Polish curfews what’s the harm in stomping on minority rights? I have a great idea; perhaps we should make every person under the age of 18 wear a capital T (for teen) on their sleeves just so we know who and where they are and innocuously surveil them. As long as we’re on the subject, property crime is obviously directly related to teens being out passed their communal bedtime. Once someone hits that glorious 18 all their tendencies toward delinquency disappear and they finally become reasonable. Honestly though, when thinking of this issue think of some other things too. What if the aforementioned crimes could be associated with a particular race or religion? Would it then be appropriate to put a curfew upon them? Of course not, we're a society that mostly accepts others, faults included. Mostly however, people should remember how awkward and tough a time being a teenager was for the majority of us. Is it really worth throwing out the whole bushel just to get a few bad apples? I certainly don’t think so.

If you're not doing anything wrong in the first place.....why worry about it? You're not doing anything wrong remember.
16 year olds should not be out on the streets at 1 am. Where are the parents of these "children" who are out that late?
You cannot deny the fact that a lot and I know this for a fact, A LOT of the teens that are out this late, are up to no good. That could harm someone or themselves. This is put in place to HELP teens. These people who have voted for the curfew have more important things to do then to just think up ways to "anger teens". It's about time someone decided to do something about this. Even though it's first and foremost the responsibility of the parents to make sure their CHILDREN are safe, and not out roaming the streets. I've heard these teens out late yelling and smashing glass bottles. And I end up watching and worrying. It's sad to have to make those few who aren't doing anything wrong pay for it too, but the truth is there are a lot more that do. I've been there.
But again.... if you're not doing anything wrong... then you have nothing to worry about..... right??

This is just another type of discrimination against teens. Teens can't even go into stores with a group of friends without be considered suspicious. Many people think that every, single teen is up to no good. They try to control everybody. First they're telling them how many people they can walk into a store with, and now they're telling them when they can and cannot be outside! Are they going to start telling them WHERE they can and cannot go out? Why don't they put a curfew on african american citizens? After all, they're a minority. How about hispanic citizens, or asian? Why don't they put a stronger curfew out there for males? They get into more accidents so, therefore, they should have restrictions.
The gov't always wants to find ways to control peoples' lives. This curfew is not a very effective plan, because the persons who do go out and vandalize, won't care if their parents are fined. They are just going to break the curfew to prove that they can't be confined. Youth don't want to be segregated. They want to be an accepted part of the community, not unaccepted.

Teens are spoiled these days into thinking that everyone is obligated to tending to they're needs, and they're needs only. Wich is actually pretty normal because we all felt as though the world should revolve around us, and of course we were invinsible in our teens. BUT what is different now is that adults allow children freedoms wich they never earn. Plus it is really hard to teach kids values when the media always de-values everything we're left with violence, sexism, and coarse language. Personally I'm not shocked to here 12 year olds beating adults to death and adults on the buses. Good kids? Not these ones. Of course they look normal. Do serial killers? Do they advertise "Beware I have homicidal tendencies"? BUT movies do, and music videos do. GUESS what? Do you remember when you were a teen. How often did you idolize someone or something in the entertainment world? Curfew really?!! The fact that CURFEW has become an issue at all proves kids really do have more freedom and power than they should have. I think adults need to take back our respect because if we continue to kiss they're ***'s then we may end up with some big big problems ex. some L.A fires. Teens are bombarded with violence and sexual deviances especially the internet sicko sites. Also kids have enough pent up anger and urges from hormones to have to deal with all this extra twisted adult influences. We are all influenced. Mostly by horrible things. We must focus on positive things. Recognizing good things teen do. Not rewarding Conrad when he dosen't vandalize a vehicle. Curfew is a good start but we need to have way more bounderies and appropriate punishment for not only teens but also for young adults.

Katie you're so right, but you're not right about putting curfew on just Affrican/A, Hispanic, or Asian. You should know that that goes for everyone not just for us. Y u gotta be sterial type? Well anyways, eather way whoeverf is going to commit a crime they'll do it whenever or where ever not just at night.

I am a 17 year old girl, who loves to sneak out at night. It's just another rule for me to break. If it was not a rule, or now an up comming possible "law", I probably wouldnt leave my home. When I sneak out I dont even do anything wrong. All I do is hang out with friends. I think that if there was a curfew, it should apply for the children, or "teens" under 14.

I think that the rules will only make teens want to break them even more. Many teens these days feel that all they have are rules so really.... the more you make the more they break. I still think the curfew is okay.. but I think it should be for younger teens or longer than say 10:00pm.

It is discriminating towards teenagers. Yes I admit lots of teenagers do bad things, but that doesn't mean all of them do. I have lots of friends that have never gotten into trouble with the law (and no reason to). Sometimes the only times I can go out with friends is late at night because I have a job. If I went to a movie that ended really late I would then have to get my mom to drive me home when I am perfectly capable to drive home myself. If curfew was gone or at least later I wouldn't have to get a parent. I'm sure my mom has better things to do than pick me up from a theatre at 11:00 at night. It's like punishing a whole class of students for one or two people.

what about adults? they should have a curfew too not all teens are saints but not all adults are either i think its the parents responsibility to know where their kids are and what their doing; its called good parenting and if they're going to be making the curfew the law, i think it should apply to every1
