“I find their relationship extraordinary. She was so strong. He must have gotten a lot of inspiration from her”

Hi All,

Thompson's return trip in 1808 was historic in that he returned to inform the North West Company partners of his discovery of Howse Pass, a trade route across the Rocky Mountains. So we've headed East!

To see where the Brigade is along their 3600 KM route, go to the home page and click the link to take you to satellite tracking: www.2008thompsonbrigade.com .

So far my longest day paddling was 108 km in headwinds to arrive in Cumberland House, SK. Lots of delta, and lots of fun. Our guide was the world-reknowned canoe racer, Soloman Carriere.

Communities along the way have held incredible welcoming parties, meet and greets, ceremonies, dances, dinners, and we've lead school programs that have put the exclamation point on our desire to educate children about their region's heritage, the history of Canada and about David Thompson, Charlotte Small and the hardy Voyageurs who supported them in all their adventures.

Happy paddling!
