Air Canada jet makes emergency landing in Calgary after 9 injured in flight
“That would include injuries to do with the neck and back or other muscular skeletal-type injuries.”
- Nine people on board an Air Canada jet were hurt - some seriously - Thursday morning when their flight from Victoria to Toronto encountered turbulence.
The Airbus A319 made an unscheduled landing in Calgary, where the injured were whisked off the plane on stretchers into waiting ambulances.
"The City of Calgary Emergency Medical Services has transported a total of six patients to area hospitals with stable but potentially life-threatening (injuries)," said Stuart Brideaux of Calgary Emergency Medical Services. Read more

Imagine that a plane made in France can't fly through turbulence, wonder how much turbulence the A360 can handle before it falls out of the sky also?

You, my man, don't know squat about turbulence.
The first thing that you might try to grasp is that turbulence is not geopolitical. And yes, in today's world of Al Nina, or whatever huge atmospheric heat energy shifts, the jet streams might be very turbulent over ant orographic features. If you have ever ridden "turbulence' into a cloud, sometimes called riding the "fusion dragon" or "rock and roll," you would never compare what country an aircraft is made in, as a survivability factor. Rather, survivability depends on which heat exchange engine the turbulence is manufactured in. There is turbulence around that will swallow up any aircraft flown by an unwary, or unskilled, pilot. Lets hope that you aren't on it at that moment at that place. Be thankful for those who survived what could have been a truly sad event. |

Exactly, didn't know atmospheric turbulence was "Made in France".
Gee you would think the wings would have come off it with such vicious negative g's being exerted that passengers were lifted out of their seats. Only America makes quality aircraft. That's why the entire fleet of the vaunted F-15 have been grounded. |

Hey Siloviki you were sure upset at our PM in the other post. Do you think that he wouldn't drink the Tea of Dr.Miller, just because it is a herbal product and it color?
Naturally we wouldn't expect him to smoke the left over tea bags. Jeeze you were really mad at him, weren't you? Sir Edmund Hillary a great beekeeper passed on today, may his sould rise to great hights again. |

What's not to be mad about Klaus? He snubs Venezuela and Chavez, and mollycoddles a country who narcoterrorists are on the US Dept of Justice shit list, and have pretty stark ties to the Uribe gov't, yet finds trade with Columbia moral. Doesn't stop Canada or the US from seeking "free trade agreeements". As I say economics trump morality anyday, as long as the bourgeoise can show skyscrapers and penthouses as a symbol of "free market prosperity". It enables people like Harper to continue on in the finest tradition of being the corporate prostitutes and nobody but NOBODY does it better than conservatives. Just ignore the scorched earth policy committed on the "untermenschen" and the thousands who have disappeared. Visit Uzbekistan next you f'ing piece of excrement. |

Here's Who's Helping make Decisions for Us
Bet if they really Knew what's Going on eg. taking a Jazz flight & seeing how things were really NOT going on that Milton Guy who used to run Scare Canada used as as P/R Campaign of Good News only & ran Off before Air Canada Imploded from within... their Tripple AAA ratings wouldn't be so generous to many levels of Government up here too Too Bad what they Know that we Don't Know might be nice Too eg. 10 % increase in ForeClosures per 10 cent a litre increase in Gas Prices at the Pump etc. http://moodys.com/cust/default.asp http://www.moodys.com/cust/content/Content.as... http://www.moodys.com/cust/prodserv/prodserv.... http://www.moodys.com/cust/content/Content.as... |

no Matter How Well over Designed an Aircraft
which they usually are for normal occurrences that happen from Mother Nature but when the computer Quits takes a bit of time to get things back under control |

Yeah be positive everyone, there is little that doesn't need change in some way.
Save your strength to complain another day, Siloviki. I know how you feel because I get that way, too. When that happens I write a doomsday story where I get to cause the end to happen but indirectly, by stirring up a hornets nest. I wish i had been blogging on this site and not topix (Too closed) when the Mohamed cartoons were being drawn. I couldn't understand why some trouble makers with spray paint wouldn't try something on American Mosques. You'd think that the idea would float into some talented rebel's head in 300,000,000 people, but no only in my head did the idea occur. That's my personal way of turning destructive hateful fantasies into something that won't damage me. To those who wish to calm that I might be inciting terrorism I say there are many nuclear doomsday movies, genetics/bio attacks and even invasions from space. I'm actually doing homeland defense a favor by forewarning them so that they can see it coming. besides in something like that it would be the reaction of crazed religious goons that would be dangerous. You, Siloviki, like most Russians have an ironic sense of humor why not try writing and posting a good joke about the absurd actions of our PM. For a while back there I was letting these things rule my life too much. It's not healthy. Be happy my intelligent friend. |

Finding cause of Air Canada flight problem will be a long, detailed process

The aircraft was American, I believe. I heard a report that it was due to the mountains, like I said when I referred to orographic. What happened was that the jetstream was low and perhaps very wide so that it might have interacted with the mountains creating an amplified effect like wave lift. There has been a group of Alberta trying to tow into the primary wave near Cowley. They have all the necessary iquipment including radios because they would be accessing restricted airspace. When you see lenticular clouds forming (cigar shaped) in parallel rows like waves lined up the same way the mountain ranges line up. I believe the sailplane record is over 50,000 feet. Sure wouldn't want to run out of oxygen at that altitude. The effects of air moving at huge volumes or huge speeds is awesome The Force (F)= Mass(M)x acceleration (A) Gives the reason why as the wind speed doubles the force it exerts is quadrupled. Think of hitting the outer band of the Jet-stream as it might be deflected off the mountain tops. Awesome forces involved as the jet-stream can be over 300 miles per hour. I believe some talented glider pilots experimented with thermaling a fully loaded engine less DC3 after it came off the tow line over Texas (where today's hang gliding records are set) I really like this Tea. It is a remarkable substance. It lives up to its promises. Should be drunk a couple of days before a rough flight to help you weather rough air. It relieves you of stuff that might embarass you, if relieved during flight Want more info: squeeze the mouse sales at live dot ca |
