Today at approx 2:30 there was a terrible accident at the west tank farm on cnrl's Horizon project 75km north of fort mcmurray. A 120 foot sturcture collapsed onto workers, killing at least 2 and injuring many more.

This is not a suprise to me my experience at the CNRL project was very dangerous when you enter the site the safety slogan sais "give er get er done". These temporary foreign workers were the dumbest people i ever seen in my life.they are very dangerous and very inept at doing the simplest of jobs. They do not use bathrooms they just piss and sh^t anywhere, they are disgusting and there 3rd world trade skills were something expected from monkeys.Hopefully more of these retards kill themselves.

HOW DID YOU GET ON SITE! CNRL has drug test requirements. The "Giv R" is a Long Lake Nexon sign. Typical Union member picking another site. Is reading required to become a Union member??? Maybe get off the wagon and realize you have priced yourself out of the market.Welfare pays $1200 a month.

union only pay's just over $33 an hour that is why my wagon (rig welder) making $110 an hour plus LOA that is the only way it is worth me going to fort mac in the first place. I work for myself so i dont know where u get your info from. And that sign was posted at CNRL in november so maybe u need to get off the crack and educate yourself before making comments. I suspect your a china man yourself or an investor or have never been on a constructions site in your life.

Take it from a man with years of experience i have my mechanical engineers, steam, and b pressure ticket. I operate one of the safest companys in this province as i have had 0 accidents or deaths in 15 years. I know how a job is to be done and we do things right the first time unlike those clowns at CNRL, i walked off that job because it was unsafe and i told deucepe myself how somebody was going to get killed. sure as sh^t 2 dead already.

heaven for bid these clowns will ever listen, if they would have in the first place this would have never happened.

Today another Tank Fell.. Is it the design of the tank, the components of the tank, or the construction?

The tank i dont think is the problem, On most jobs ive been on actually all of them they always put the skin on and not the structural steel inside the tank that would act like a big sail when it gets windy. That steel really doesnt seem that stable. Im no boilermaker but thats my take on it.I dont wanna be anywhere near this place when they throw the switch. I have yet to see a chinaman shitting on site. CNRL has no buiseness taking on a job this size. I hope they go broke building this shithole and maybe a real company like shell will bail em out @ 25 cents on the dollar(fucking scumbags)

I hope all you fucktards go to hell. These are human beings with families and dreams. This is a horrible accident; union or not, these people deserve to be treated with respect.

It's not entirely the fault of the worker. He's only trained with the standards of their country. Our standards are much much higher, and they should be. I mean look at what the hell we're constructing, a frickin' bomb. Where the real problem lies is with our fucked up government and the clients that hire on these so called skilled people. They need to re-think things, shut down the cnrl site until everything has gone through a thourough inspection, before anyone else dies over a fucking dollar.

Union or not it"s a tragedy that was bound to happen, I know a guy that was right by that tank, had to clean up the steel off the Chinese worker and a week later had more of them there!! Now another one collapsed! Shut the ***** down!

Is there not some form of supervision and inspection on union sites? Before jumping on the foreign worker bandwagon, you people might want to finish the accident investigation, which will withour a dought point it's way back to an engineering f^ckup, or lack of inspection in the way the construction was carried out. Unless you guys take these guys off the boat and give them a set of prints?? If that's the case, then who's fault is that. Either way, loss of life in any case is a tragedy unles your a "my sandbox, my toy truck" kind of guy.

This could be a good thing :) The unions have so much work right now they could pull all the members off this site and dispatch them some place else keeping all the members working while these foreign contractors are on stop work orders. This would hurt CNRL investors big time as the job could not get done.

maybe they will see how valuble it is to invest in union labour.

I worked at cnrl for seven months for two companies one tic and the other jacobs industrial . i was not there at the time of the Two incedents and the thirdo ne to come because the other tank is leaning and soon to fall .. but as a union worker.. they build these tanks a certain way. and for one . there was not enough support for the walls probly due to the number of support wires not presesnt.. two the structure is not entirely stable until the roof is put on .. but a properly built vessel will stand if enough support in the correct places is achieved .. as not certified to canadian standards for workes such as foreign .. not sayin all workers .. but cnrl is damn cheap and ive bin there to watch them build that place .. through my my opinion .. goverment is against unions .. i for one am for the brother or the sister .. think about canada first.. before you bring foreign workers in .. boiler makers should have built those tanks .. could have saved two lives.. possibly more in time to come .. proper certification and inspection is required .. so mind the certification .. who's inspecting these vessels?
