It's kind of funny how Josh Garza is the only person to use his real name. It's so easy to be anonymous and insulting. Then again, given the apparent inability to spell let a lone correctly distinguish between your, you're, their, there, and they're...I can understand the need for anonymity.

I guess my question to the naysayers and ill-informed is: what have YOU done to help your community?

Whether Fairpoint, GAW, VTel, Sovernet or whomever...at least someone is trying to make a difference. Can the naysayers / ill-informed claim that?

To be perfectly honest, the same should be asked of GAW. I am not a customer, but from what I've seen, satellite internet (in all of its high-latency, barely broadband, overpriced glory) is miles above (pun intended) what GAW is offering in rural VT.

One of the great things about being an American is freedom of choice. You are free to choose satellite.

Based on what's posted here (and totally irrelevant), being Josh might not be so bad with all the cars and houses he seems to be able to buy.

I actually used to worked for garza for about two years and I can tell you without a doubt that he is a pretty honest guy.

One thing they will not say publicly, and I never understood why, is that they have bought many companies to keep them from going out of business. And many of them promised to deliver service to towns that they could not deliver on. When GAW would by them, they would be left with the promises the other company had made. I have personally seen him deliver to service to towns that made no money on, but did because he said he needed to follow through. That happened many of times

I am still friends with many of the guys there, and I can tell you that they still have customers in both Marlboro and Putney as recent. The foot print is pretty small, but they still offer service in some areas. I am not sure why they will not tell the public this, I can tell you that the reason part of the service in Putney was taken down was because Putney School built a building in front of one of their towers forcing them off the site.

I have had GAW twice while I lived in the NE Kingdom. What I find remarkable is the mentality of most of the people up there. Of course I am not a native New Englander but come on people. You live in the wilderness where most providers don;t even care about you and you bash a company that is local to you for providing you the best that is available for the area. Not to mention they provide service to most of Vermonts rural area with a minimal amount of staff. Plus...they climb mountains and towers in the middle of winter just so you can have your service while you are nice and comfy in front of your wood burning stove. Nobody made you people live where you can;t get service. Give the local guys a break.
And if you are going to post things, please make sure that you are intelligent enough to have the facts straight. People like you disgust me and am so glad to be out of that area.(Of course I'm sure that you are glad that I am gone too:)
Yes maybe they aren;t the fastest internet service in the world but why don;t you just be thankful that you can connect to the internet.
I personally am glad to be back in the Urban world where I can get much faster speeds and they actually have fiber but I am also am a realist and know that trying to provide services to people who live in caves (By choice) is not an easy task.
KUDOS to GAW for being the local guys trying to keep Vermonts rural area connected!!!!!!!!

BTW...the whole Putney thing was the schools fault as well. I read many articles on this instance to include the building permits for that build out.
