I drive a 2011 model 670 with a D13 with about 230,000 miles. it's in the shop for the second time for air in the injectors. the first time was about a month ago. the truck does have a nice ride, is comfortable, and quiet.

I had nothing but bad luck with the ISX in my 2008 International. EGR at 57,000 miles, another one at 380,000 miles; turbo at 400,000 miles; lots of downtime chasing engine codes; it ran too hot all the time: coolant temp around 190 deg F all the time, oil temp around 235 deg F all the time. I'm glad to be rid of it....

We've had our 2009, D13 engine, for three yrs and we must have gotten the one with the engine that was manufactured on a Monday or a Friday, because we have had nothing but problems with our fuel injectors and fuel system in general. The bottom line is this, Volvo engines are crap, they are money pits to the eighth degree, don't buy a Volvo with a Volvo engine.

last January I purchased a new 2011 Volvo and it is probably one of the worse mistakes that I have ever made. Been farming and trucking for over 30 years and never have I ever experienced breakdowns like I'm experiencing with this new truck. 20 times in the shop, towed 3 times, 18 weeks loss revenue since January 2011...it just won't stop.
In hindsight I should have fixed up and kept my old truck.
What kind of problems you had? explain a bit more, might help us who are interested in d13 and have mechanical/electrical knowledge. thanks!

All electrical problems, mostly sensors. Nox, def, turbo. Check engine light came on again last night. Towed 4 times now.

I should mention that I found a bad ground in my 2011 d13 670. In the battery box just above the batteries are ground wires that are connected onto the frame. I found paint on the ground bolt so i cleaned everything up with wire wheel dremel. Further, I found more ground wires on that bolt onto the firewall in the area of the steering column. These connections looked good but I cleaned them anyways just in case. I did this last October and haven't had any sensor failures since. Last night engine light came on again but wont know till later this aft if its a failed sensor.

As far as dpf egr def and any other emissions related issues they all have the problem 60 ser egr engines are bad about losing #6cylinder due to sooting cummins is bad about egr turbo egr coolers piston coolers and wrist pin bushings that will leave your engine with a rod hanging out of the block. So yes they all have problems thank uncle sam for most of them.
Yes, they all have this problems, but when you swollowed enough soot, and you get nearly bancrupt by incompetent Volvo mechanics that are happy to milk this problem, you can find someone to do an egr/dpf delete. This will remove all your problems and save your life. Cummins, detroit and cat are easy to do, and you'll get ove a mile per galon increase in mileage and no more smoke in the cab from the excessive back pressure.

d13 with ishift 3:08 ratio gets between 6.8 mpg loaded 78000 pounds up to 10 plus mpg loaded 10000 lbs. troubles include egr cooler leaking and that caused the differential presurre switch and 7th injector to go bad and not knowing that i could clean them i had to have the truck towed. dealer made it run by replacing 7th injector and differential pressure switch and resetting the computer. I cleaned the dpf, changed the egr cooler and it has been a great truck for the last 100000 mi. has 504000 on the truck.

Let's see 330,000 Km the injector cups need to be replaced. The old ones are brass and copper, the new ones stainless. Volvo installed an inferior product and has since updated it. They won't do a recall. Basically Volvo hopes you run out of warranty before they need to be changed.
Complete software overhaul within the first 6 months.
EGR valve replace 14 months. Sounds like a shotgun when it goes. It's un mistakeable.
Like the truck, fuel mileage, ride when it's not in the shop. Get use to hearing that.
The side cover plate will also start to leak coolant

we have a 2011 volvowith the d13 junk junk junk.
this truck has 353k and spends most of its time in the shop. injector 3 time , cups nox sensors and i have a vibration problem that they have know idea what it is but are more than happy to suggest
trying stuff at your cost to see if thats the problem.
Right now we have a vibration that won't go away.
they want to pull the clutch and replace it but at 4000.00 that is a pretty expensive repair just to guess with.

great if they are paying for it.
they has no issues with how long the truck is down for.

our other truck is a volvo with a d16 with appro same km in the shop now . over a week and will be ready next week.
hate to see the bill on that one .

volvo needs to be more accountable for there truck and repairs .

we've got a 2004 with a d12 1.8 million miles
very minor issues . that are hundred dollar repairs . not thousands.
