We all know there is no such thing as the perfect trucking job or company, but what company or job came closest for you either now presently or in the past? Take the overall picture into consideration as far as pay, benefits, hometime, friendliness, easy to get along with, honesty, etc.

Drove for Melton Truck lines. Excellent equipment, good miles and pay. Easy to work with staff and great for providing comfortable lounges, clean terminals (including the shop areas) as well as free laundry facilities for the drivers. Wouldn't drive for anyone else.

And by the way Melton will get you home on time if you follow the guide lines set forth. Never had a problem once that was any fault of Melton.

My current one :). I drive for a medium reefer carrier in Minnesota and I run good consistent miles, hood equipment, decent pay and good people. The health insurance has always sucked but I've learned you can't get everything.

How often did you get home with them and for how long?

Policy is 2 weeks out 2 days home. I personally would stay out 3-4 weeks then take 3 days off. All you did waas send in the appropriate macro and it was flagged to get you home. Like I said never had a problem that was Melton's fault. Only once had a issue and that was definitly the shipper's fault (Melton had it set that I would be home the night before the first day requested), my moto is finish what you start regardless of the inconvienence.
