How do you feel about Schneider? I am thinking about coming to work for them. Will they treat a newbie like me right? Do they give good miles and pay well? Also how often can you get home?

workin for schneider for about a year my experience is this.i get home whenever i requested it.but the more you go home the less money you make.might have something to do with mileage pay.if you stay out longer they can send you further.if your new they will test you to see if you can get the loads on time so dont expect alot of miles in the beginning.again my experience.their equipment alittle banged up.if they dont want to fix it just put it on the qualcom.legal doc.you will get fast results then.learn to play the game instead of crying.the people i deal with dbl dispatch.are ok their is alot of passing the buck but i assume that happens with every big co.money isnt great but who is makeing good money these days.especially with little or no experience.worked for myself for 30 years till the economy tanked my business,if i was doing the same job today i would e working for 50% less, its just reality.so im staring over middle aged it sucks but they gave me the opportunity,i will continue to look for better jobs who doesnt.but for now ill stick with what i got a steady paycheck.i here nightmare stories about alot of other companies, better to dance with the devil i know.

I currently work for schneider. My paycheck has been wrong at least 10 times since they implemented a new system. You will need to keep track of all your loads and compare to their records. If you lucky you will be overpaid. Yes I know a guy thats had his check doubled 5 or 6 times, taking home $1500 per week. It has never been caught by the company in over a year.

Turnover is tremendous and I cannot understand why they let drivers leave. You will get back hauls that 2 hours of your day but the extra milage will only earn you $3.00. It is possible to actually lose money with a backhaul. They pay zip code to zip code, so you will not be paid for lots of miles.

They brag about driver opportunities in orientation. They say you can change jobs after a year if you don't like what your doing. The reality is they would rather you quit than change jobs. HR will not even talk to a driver about changing jobs and Managers will not return any phone calls when asking about transferring.

A word to the wise, if you are even thinking about Schneider National as employment, do yourself a favor and stop! Going to work for Schneider was the worst move I ever made. After about 8 years of building a good driving record, in 14 months, Schneider ruined that to the point that I am now having trouble getting hired by anyone. They falsely accused me of falsifying my application for employment. They put a chargable accident on my DAK because I stretched, not broke, a set of air hoses, then they fired me, put me on a Grayhound in Gary Indiana, and posted all their lies on DAK. They refuse to even talk about removing any of it, and I am now in the dispute process with DAK trying to clear my name. Schneider will take a driver with a good industry record, chew them up, spit them out, and blackball him on DAK. Fair warning, STAY AWAY!
Stay away is right, got injured and fired me next day. No workers comp wagess total loss.

ALL large companies have turnover rates of 200-500%. Why? Because truck drivers expect 3,000+ miles a week for some reason, and get passed when they get a couple 2,000 mile weeks a month. Then they jump ship to another carrier for maybe 2 cents more. I do not work for SNC, but another large carrier, for 13 years. The drivers most likely to bitch about a carrier are also the ones who have 5 or 6 employers in the past 2 years it seems. What incentive does a carrier have to try and pamper someone like that? A very, very large amount of this is the driver's fault because of their own attitude.

I gave these sorry pukes 3 years of my life. Worked many weekends, holidays, ran many 14 hour plus days, just to make terrible money! I was fired when an office desk jockey told me " if we weren't on company time or property, I would kick your ass!" And I told him if we go across the street, we won't be on company time or property, and your in luck cause I have my ass with me !!!! It's ok though.... a month later he was fired for sexual harrasement. Karma is a bitch !!!! Trucks are junk. 24 years safe driving with a spotless record and was given a 7 yr old truck with 660,000 miles on it. A new kid out of driving school got a brand new truck..... GO FIGURE !!!!!

I can say without a doubt that a majority of the drivers that leave SNI or any other company is of their own issues. 200-500% turnover are from greenhorns that have an idealogic view of truck driving. Its a tough business and you have to know that going in. Especially for your first year. Lots of time away from home, lots of miles, and yes first year pay is around 35-40k. But your success always falls on your own shoulder. You will get out of any business what you put in to it. You get to many incidents or late loads or out of routes, yeah you're going to be put on a short list for the door, but take responsibility for your own actions. SNI has more 1,000,000 mile drivers than any 3 companies combined. Why? because they preach safety and want drivers that live that value. If you cant drive safe and do as expected than SNI is most definately not for you. Grass is always greener on the other side until you walk through the door a realize that its the same dame color. Quit complaining, learn your trade, or find a new business. Stop blaming everyone else and making excuses, last time I checked your are looking less as someone I would hire because all I see is you complaining and bitching. OWN UP, NUTT UP, or SHUT UP

Because newbie drivers have some fantasy about the open road. Truck driving is damn hard work....duhhhh I drove for them 3 years after they trained me. If you work hard and aren't a whining baby they treat you well. If you don't hustle they starve you out. Quit whining and have some pride in your work. I've made one hell of a great living driving trucks. Go get an 8 to 5 desk job and quit your bitching.
