We bought an 2007 880 D16 with 60,000 miles on it at 95,000 we had the #1 injector go and had to replace all injector cups. 240,000 #6 valve was going to high and hitting the head. 8 months later #4 valve is doing the same thing. We had it fix in Chicago the fist time it took them 6 weeks. We have spent 18000.00 in repairs on a truck that we have had only for 1 yr and 7 months. We are home waiting to see if Volvo is going to help out with this problem with the #4 values. Is OOIDA really taking info on a class action suit against volvo.

For me it is way too late to complain. I have one payment left to my VT880 550hp. It is a 2006 and I've got so many problems that I even forgot to keep track of them.
Just to name the first trouble: after 3 months I bought the truck I was driving on I-69 IN on flat road, cruise control(63 mph) when my engine .... EXPLODED. Yes u heard it well: the engine exploded. I managed to stop the truck on the shoulder and after I lift the hood I've seen a hole in the engine blok so big I could insert my head inside of the engine. I've seen the pistons and all the crap inside the engine.
After that an avalanche of troubles started. I dont even want to remember the tens of thousand I've lost.
I have now 586600 miles on this engine and seems that the engine is giving me a break and let me make more money for the future repairs.

People people....listen to me here: DO NOT BUY VOLVO TRUCKS NO MATTER WHAT. Forget about those comercials with flowers and sun, big sleepers and other crap. Is all just to make your mind spin so fast and sign the 5 years contract. After that the sun will sudden dissapear, the flowers will get a pale colour and the money from your pockets will flow at large in Volvo's pockets.

This is the last Volvo truck in this life.

I've done all that. The truck shakes sitting parked not moving. The front end has been checked as the whole entire truck. It's in the motor/transmission. It's better when they put a new flywheel and clutch in then eventually comes back.<quoted text>
dammit it to be honest, i dont know where you would start on that one. call thier customer service and file a report on it and i hope whomever you bought the truck from is trying help you out with the problem.

LOL. The dealer hasn't helped since day one and I have a dealer in Richmond that says it's the balancer and flywheel. I'll be down for two weeks so well see. Putting a complaint in with volvo does no good after the first couple complaints. Their answer is sue us because we don't want to try to fix it anymore. So I talked to OOIDA and well see if we can pursue the class action lawsuit. If not we will go after them personally. We have too much docs to back us up.

Dammit to be honest. You guys scared me to death. I just got my 2007 (no SCR) VT830 with D16 550Hp engine. 320.000 miles on the clock. Still in my parking lot ... I have also a 1999 FRHT with cummins N14 engine. After reading all these posts I got really scared. I'm afraid to go over the road with my new truck ...

check all banjo bolts, and most likley cut injector oring, buy some fuel line ends from the dealer get the plastice hose end abd the brass tank fitting both for the supply line, add some clear tube and check for air in fuel at the return line near the filters, if you have alot of bubbles after 5 minutes, then its probably an oring

Well Volvo did pick up the bill on this last valve going into the head they replace the headed. Truck was down for 7 weeks. Now I am broke down in Albuquerque with a crack in the top plastic piece that goes cross the top of the radiator and have two wait intil Tuesday before i can get a radiator. Another 5 days down with no income. Broke and had it don't know how to get out from this truck I have only had it for 1yr and 7 months.

Here you go ... some questions:
I have a 2006 (no DPF) Volvo VT830 with D16d 550HP 18 Sp truck. I had an exhaust manifold leak (fixed). The truck has about 320K miles on the clock.
I do not have any ECU fault codes on it.
For some reason I feel like it doesn't have full power. When I push fast the gas pedal on the floor (boost) the truck smokes black.
Also I never saw my boost gauge over 32 psi. The boost sensor is brand new (a week old).
How much do you guy have boost pressure on the gauge please?
Also anybody have some ideea why is making black smoke? I checked everything (intercooler, air leaks, EGR, Turbo, injectors. All are fine ... but still the truck looks like underpowered and makes black smoke when I hammer it.
Thanks for answers!

We have a 2008 D16-Never Never again. Bought this truck brand new and what a night mare. Has probably been in the shop as much as out. Volvo even put a new engine in it and the same problems occurred again, so sad to bad is there warranty.A law suit is the only answer. I feel so sorry for all the unsuspecting people out there signing there name on the dotted line. You will so regret it.We even put I Bought This Lemon from Northwest Equipment Boise Idaho on the side of it in great hopes no one else would be in the position as we are.
