I had a friend that trained there. They put an extreme amount of pressure for him to become a lease operator after training. He kept saying no. Leasing is a BAD idea and especially bad with England. They will pay you as a company driver, but the pay is going to be low.

I have talked to current CR England drivers while out on the road with a friend of mine. They all seem to have been with England for a few years and generally have positive comments concerning the company.

I would like to hear more from Ron since I am supposed to be entering their training progam the end of the month. Thanks!!!!

$200 a week Ron you don't know what you are talking about . It is totally up to you if you are lazy and don't know how to motivate yourself of course that's all youll make. I consistently bring home $1500 + a week. It makes me sick to hear all of you cry babies. Just because the money don't fall in your lap its a bad company. Wake up and start earning you money and quit using ENGLAND as an excuse why you not making it in life.

I was there almost two years ago and left before even getting in a truck. This company is bad news. I am sure they have some long term drivers who they probaly favor but to them a trainee is just away for them to get the goverment grant for each driver they train and to run a training truck like a team. I know this for a fact as I still have contact with a driver who completed trianing and got out fast. Lease operators is all they are interested in and the numbers don't add up to be able to make any kind of respectable pay check. I ended up with Arrow soon after but got out when I seen them going the wrong direction. Came back to local driving but ended up back with otr. Went with Melton and would not trade them for another otr company regardless of pay offer.
Melton does not have a training program but once you get some experience I would definitely give them a try. I left them only to restart my business that had been slow over the past few years and my seperaation from them was smooth and with out incident. Would return in a heartbeat if the circumstance required it.

They will tell you anything. Do the math, youi would have to be running 70+ mph 70 hrs per week to get that kind of miles or be doing one hell of a doctor job to the log book. If they are using paperless logs forget it. My advise is to get out before completing orientation.

If you are smart I would find another company. I left before eveen getting in a truck. Went to Arrow but left due to poor miles. Ended up at Melton and resigned to try and restart a former business. However if I had to return to trucking, Melton would be my first and only choice. Excellent equipment, management and all around great people to work with. If you already have a CDL and experience they will train you for flatbed. But definitely find another company or go to a local driver training school and apply for a goverment loan. STAY AWAY FROM ENGLAND!

Give me a chance to call the terminal manager in Ohio tommorrow from the last company I drove for. He is very honest and knowledgable in this matter. I will get back to you in a day or so since if they are at the terminal (Columbus Day) it is the first day of orientation there and they are extremely busy on Monday. If for some reason he can't answer my question for you he will definitely find out or give me a contact at the main terminal to ask. I am doing this for you because I really hate to see you or anyone go there and I am that confident in the info I will receive from my former employer. I only left to restart my business of some years but the economy is still holding it back from it's former full potential. I may have to go back out on the road to keep the roof over my family's head and Melton (there I told you who they are) is the only one I will consider.

This does not matter they are a horrible company listen to the people who have posted these posts. My husband was the only one out of 110 people in the class to last six months of hell. The cost of living out on the road run about 100-120 dollars a week and there is no way you can survive with less money for food. In the time he worked for them he only made less than 4000.00 Can you survive on that little money? If you live in a truck and don't have any other bills then go for it. The trainers were throwing
people out of the trucks in the middle of no where. Our friend was left to walk several miles to the next exit in Wyoming in the middle of the night. All his stuff was thrown out of the window

If you are just starting your driving career, look into Swift,Werner,Schnieder or Watkins Shepard. All of these companies have good training programs, none will force you to lease. And to be honest, you can stay and have a pretty good career growing as a driver. Companies like Prime,And England push leases. You'll never own the truck. You won't make money, it's not set up for you to succeed. Trans-Am is a good starting company as well, and in time if you really want to lease a truck (and you DON'T) you can. You have to remember, in trucking, like everything else, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Good luck and be safe.
