You can't blame the "Big" trucking companies! If I owned a company and I had drivers who expected to be paid $1500-$2000 per week, and I drivers willing to do the same job for $400-$500 per week, guess which ones i'm going to hire? You can only blame yourself as a professional driver, willing to work for these slave wages! If nobody would agree to work for them, they would have no choice but to either pay a decent living wage, or go out of business. I've been driving local, home every night, for over 20 years. I get paid by the hour, I get paid for every minute from the time I clock in, till the time I clock out! I work between 50-55 hours per week, and I gross between $1300-$1500 per week. I have never driver OTR and I never will, not for me, but I can see why some drivers would enjoy that.
That being said, if I did decide to drive OTR, I wouldn't even consider doing it for any less than $2000 per week. I talk to OTR drivers at truck stops and shippers, and i'm horrified when I hear their stories about the all money they're NOT making, and all the BS they put up with! To the people saying its a "competitive business" and these companies are just trying to stay in business, you've been brainwashed my friend! To believe this, you obviously have no idea how the trucking industry, or any industry works! Sure, fuel prices, insurance cost and the general cost of doing business has risen dramatically but so has the rates. Have you ever heard of a fuel surcharge? I work for a small local LTL, that has between 30-40 drivers. How can they afford to pay me a decent wage plus no cost benefits, and still be competitive, successful and more importantly, profitable? These "Big" companies could do the same if they cared at all their drivers! But no, they would rather remain competitive, turn HUGE profits, while paying the drivers little or nothing!
The bottom line is, if they have drivers willing to work for slave wages, usually less than minimum wage if you do the math, this will NEVER end!

Look I dont care I need a job So I am going to try out western if its that bad I want to see osha reports because its slander and fraud to do any of that so I want to see reports or shut the door and move on I am tired of hearing both sides and I am tired of hearing about "they forgot me" or "I did this" thats one out of 300 so stop
Listen Kid, when a company's C.S.A score is so bad that they can't have pre-pass, that is really bad. That's how bad Westerns score is. Bottom line they are a piss poor company. That terminal there in Nazareth, pa. pure filth. This is a BOTTOM FEEDER COMPANY!!!

These people will screw new drivers any way they can...Heres one example (I'll be posting other ways on other sites too) If you pick up an overweight load(over gross or axle weights you can't balance properly) they say don't worry about it,run it through the scales and if you get a fine they will pay...HA HA HA DON'T BE AN IDIOT...First of all they won't pay your fine and second if you get in an accident no matter if it was'nt your fault you will be arrested and sent to jail along with other consequences..Check it out and you will see if this is so. And remember if you value your cdl NEVER WORK FOR WESTERN EXPRESS!!!!

Josh,
My husband is not a rookie. His DM Jacob Richards outta Birmingham is a straight up D*ck. He is screwing over my husband because he is leaving the company. Jacob has lied to us before I was supposed to be able to get off the truck a week after I got on nope still on after 2 weeks took the terminal manager to get us threw kansas so Can get off the truck.

Sounds to me like everyone complaining is a rookie. For any company to screw you over at every turn usually means that you have not done things the way they want them done (hence the saying make friends with your dispatcher) if you don't get along with your dispatcher your never going to get the miles or the loads you want that is the problem with all the rookies they think they should get paid more than seasoned drivers that's not the way it works.

1st. Western is just like any other company out there and thats to make MONEY!
2nd. If you cant handle the stresses of the industry then why don't you quit? I'm sure mcds has a spot they would love to give ya!
I worked for western myself and i "NEVER" had a hard time getting 3000 miles a week.. Heck some weeks id have to tell'em i don't have the hours and would have to turn them away.. Bottom line is, is trucking isn't for everyone and yes western has problems but their just like every other company out there.
If every driver had his/her way they would be paid 1.00 a mile, weekends off, brand new truck, and only good runs... Trucking is what you make of it, yes it is hard at times and yes your away from family and friends. But thats TRUCKING!
Not so ! all trucking companies not the same. This a** hole is obviously a trainer or driver manager. Bottom line is you will make more money at a fast food restaurant than at western express.
Trucking is not stressfull unless your always worried about situations that this piece of crap company will put you through.

Nobody knows until you get your first paycheck

Don't believe me? just ask anyone at orientation and wait and wait for an answer because nobody will tell you.
The recruiters are liars,I was told start at $.34/mile but when I saw my first paystub it was only $.23/mile not to mention the filthy truck they will give you.It smells like a bathroom because thats what it is,THE DRIVERS URINATE AND DEFECATE ALL OVER THE SEATS BECAUSE THEY BEEN CHEATED. Do you want to drive these trucks?? You'll never get rid of the smell, the urine seeps into the cracks and crevices and is there for good, its unhealthy and you'll get sick, not to mention when driving down the road all other drivers will be like look at that driver in a toilet.

Your not there to make friends you are there to make money you stupid masshole. It may be so that these comments are made by rookies coz western express hires nothing but, so they can screw you over.

I went to Western Express after 4 months with Conway Truckload. Conway continually messed up on the pay checks, reimbursements for tolls, etc. They forced dispatch to violate hours of service with threats of termination. I left Conway to go to Western Express orientation only to be left in a hotel room for 5 days. The guy that was doing orientation disappeared and never returned. I called dispatch and dispatch said, stay there and someone will contact you. I ran out of money and needed to call my wife for money for a bus ticket home. While waiting at the hotel other newbies were partying next room over and in the end the police were called. Someone was raped. Beware, be cautious. Now, I am a pimp and my ladies make more money than I do truck driving. I am the president of my own company. Western Trickload. Lol. I am pulling in 2,000 a night. I am looking for new recruits. Just kidding. Getting back to my 6 pack behind the wheel. lol. Haha got you again. Everything before Beware, be cautious is true.

My husband drives for these idiots and so far all ive seen is western treating him like dirt! There may as well not even be any dispatchers in at nite or weekend, cause they wont even answer the fone and if they do,thats all they do! He needed a relay but they didnt even bother, causing the load to be late.Oh,and god forbid if u ask for an advance! They are such tightwads they raise hell bout any advance, even though hes running this dam truck and usually runs atleast 500 miles a day.And somehow they always say hes in the hole with them.Thats a bunch of crap man. There sumthing goin on with his paychecks and we will find out wat.I think they r takin drivers money! Hes drove for other companys that didnt treat him bad like these buttholes do.They could care less if u are starving out here as long as their dam load gets where its goin! If anyone is thinkin of driving for these fools...please reconsider...Theres alot more to say but I dont have time...good luck everyone..Truckdrivers deserve a hell of alot of respect and u wont get it at western express!!!!
