Your right carl! I remember you I was a long timer there 8yrs. Since beth sold out it has gone to the toilet! And that piece of shit steve taggert,, thats browers right hand man. And dont forget that donald burcholder hes as useless as tits on a bull! The last day I was there I handed back my truck and say goodbye..I dont drive illegal, and if I did it would be my choice not you forcing me by turning my elogs OFF!! and you know the little ba&^/rd says to me it's not about safety is about service! Lol really?Thats my story! so to yall I'd run and run
Did Donald really say that? Isn't our motto "safety first, No excuses"? I cant believe these comments! I feel like I'm reading my own experiences over the last 6 years. I Usually average between 1100 and 1500 miles a week...stuck at .30 cpm for the last 5 years, the roof in my truck leaks after a heavy rain. I climbed up on the roof one day last summer during the weekend with some Bondo and a power sander and repaired the roof myself. My biggest gripe all these years was wondering whether we pay the fed tax on the lumper fee they put into our gross pay. And trying to get home? Almost impossible if there was an emergency. I'm also ready to finally walk

Way are we putting up with this stuff anyway .
You see now why it's important for a union have your back? And anti union people say "If you don't like the conditions, then move to another company". Now what happens when all the trucking companies are guilty of collusion?

All these posts are correct. It is a total shit company. I was their 5 yrs and couldn't take it any longer. They have gone from 600 trks down to under 250..partly thru trying to save money and thru attrition(drivers quitting). The turnover rate is over 100%. The only drivers who stay at star are the dedicated Nissan drivers(these kiss-assess are home every wknd, running over 2000 miles a week, in brand new equipment, pulling over .40cpm). If your a system driver(running wherever they dispatch you too), your screwed. In my 22 yr driving career, star was the worst trucking company I ever worked for. Sad because it was a great company before Beth sold it to covenant transport back in 08'. Dont go to this company...worst of the worst.

mike..dont go man. They don't northeast or any other drivers home every wknd unless you are dedicated nissan/canton Ms.$40k a year...lollollol...mike I made $21000 gross in 2012 with them running 27 days a month @ 1800-2000 miles a week. With perdiem I grossed $31k. Northeast drvrs do get paid more than other drvrs(.40cpm+)..but the bullshit you gotta put up with from planners, dispatch and upper management ain't worth it man. Hell, they could pay me 50cpm at 2500-3000 miles a week and I still wouldn't stay...i lasted 5 yrs with them mike, but was rdy to leave after 6 mos. I just dealt with the star bullshit till it caused me to end up in the hospital. That was it for me with star.

My husband just graduated from truck driving school. He was told by the school and by a recruiter that if he signs on as a dedicated driver he will have more home time and that the pay will be around .36 cpm. Honestly we were hoping that he would b home every night or at least a few nights a week and on the weekends. The school told us that this would be a good company to work for but you all are saying different. Can you tell us about the dedicated positions?

All of these comments about star are true. Actually nobody mentioned how they never pay for stops and layover. They are the worst of the worst!
Be careful they may even brainwash drivers b/c I don't know how the ##@& i ever worked there! Whatever your parents have taught you about loyalty and all that it does not apply when you work for animals like this!
Also my fellow Americans do not be loyal to any company that does not treat you right. Many corporations are not worth working for now days we are in big trouble. The rich get rich and the poor get poor. It is true many drivers only make $10k to $18k a year. You can do better than this for yourself trust me! Also the comany made $5 million for covenant by taking it all away from the driver. Don't ever drive here. If you do then you are really stupid!
