Hey could anybody tell me anything about star transportation (the one with the blue star). I am hired there and need some honest info on how good are the miles OTR and how they treat their people. Thanks

hey there mr. tom. i have been working for "star" since july of last year.you are treated fairly well by the dispatchers.as far as the miles, thats not so great at the present time. a lot of us are getting "way" less than 2000 miles a week.last week was the 1st time in over 4 months that i had over 2000 miles in a week."the problem is since covenant transport bought us out, things have headed down hill.if you can afford to,go some where else.

If out of Nashville, TN...RUN...RUN as fast as you can!!! However, if you are rogue runner, run 3-4 log books, can drive for 24 hours straight, and piss in a bottle, this job is for you! But you won't get 35 cents a mile,(its 32), and you won't get home every weekend like their website states, or as the recruiter promises...your miles will be based on what I just said...good luck!

I agree with the all previous posts...Star is not a safe, dependable company to work for. They endorse work-place bullying...need I say more?

i went to work there a short while back n after being there a short while back n after the over rgerous orientation n felt like I was being grilled on a prosecution stand n being in a large class out of close to 20 people 5 of us got through it any how when after gettin a truck n after 1st load had to sit the weekend!
after a couple weeks I let dispatch know bout some mechanical problems n i got into nashville to get them fixed instead of on the road.Got in n wrote up the repairs n since it was evening I got what I needed to get out of the truck,/ dirty laundry etc. n went home in my car.the next day/mornin calld in to shop n let me know as it turnd out it was fri aft. when they got done w/repairs n calld into dispatch to make myself avail.left voicemail n no return call,so I called again n 1 of the other dispatchers answered n popped his mouth at me n ordered me to get my quote"get mty ass there n had no rite goin home" Like what was i gonna do when I live here n tn. n i had my own car. What sit around there for 2 1/2 days.don't think so.so when he popped off at me i returned the favor. He told me n ordered me to get there n like whatever. He said he would have a load waiting to roll n so I inquired what the load was n where was it going n when does it del.
He told me it was none of my dammed business n again told me to get my ass up there well i went up there but not upon his orders n when I checked in w/nite dispatch they let me know that I wasn't dispatched on a load so now I've been lied to.cleaned out my truck n went home. i flipped when dispatch called me on the following tues to see if the truck was out of the shop yet! Anyhow figure it out!!!n draw yor own conclusion!!!

yes all they do is tell you a bunch of lies it would be my advice to keep on looking sumwhere else unless you want to sit in a divers longe for a week waiting on a truck that is a piece of junk because they will not spend any money on parts to fix the problems they r soooo tight you will get pay decrease inseade of raises i work there for 6 years and didnt get a raise for the last 5 and took a pay decrease if you want my opinion dontttt work there the management are not nice there are smart ass's and wiil not take the time to help andone out especially drivers its been a down hill spirel for star ever since covenent has taken over star used to be a christain organization before but i promise you that is all over my advice dont work there!!!!!!!!!!

OMG! Unfortunatley my husband didn't read these blogs before he went to Star. He is there barely 3 wks and is leaving. He was hired for SE region and(we live in E TN) and 2x now layed over in NC for 24hrs. Not getting anywhere near 1000 miles a week. After 90 days insurance would be 100 wk for us both (imagine the cost if we had children?)
They definatly get him home everyweekend and sometimes on his way through to NC he spends the night, but that isn't paying our bills...
Anyone out there looking at this questioning whether you want to work for them or not...RUN....RUN fast and keep going and don't look back

I worked for star for 9 years, they use to be good, until parker bough it. the miles suck and the planners have no idea about 11/14 rule so they want u to run illegal

As i said worked for Star nine years, was a good company when BETH owned it. But now u have 2 greedy people both are useless. Star forced everyone to take perdiem, said it would benefit the drivers, JOKE DRIVERS, the only ones who benefit from per deim is the company it increases thier bottom line and reduces what to put in your social security account and reduces their payroll taxes The extra money looks good every week but u are still getting screwed. per diem is 59 dollars a day, for every day u are away from home. Drivers you can take 47.25 of that 59 dollars diretly off the top of your gross income. One other thing where is the 3 cents they are keeping from your perdeim. Bet if you look real hard u will find it in the pockets of the owner and the president. it was not used to pay my taxes on my perdeim like i was told.
