Truckers Rule wrote: <quoted text> How will the trains get the product to the door of the customer?? DUH! That is a no-brainer. Since you are brain-disabled, I guess I will have to tell you. Now pay attention. Here is one simple example. The ABC Stores in Minneapolis contracts with a local delivery service to go FETCH the goods shipped by rail at a designated point. Then they FETCH-PICK UP the goods, load them in their vehicle, and truck them back to the ABC Stores warehouse. Years ago, the trains had their very own storage sheds at at delivery depot. There is one such delivery depot here in Minneapolis. It is being re-purposed as garages and even living quarters for people. It worked that way years ago. It was a good system. It can work again. Buy train stock. If you still don't understand this, then have some one read and explain it to you.

I'm old enough to remember those. My grandpa was what they called a "DRAYMAN" that took the stuff off the train and took it to the businesses and home in a HORSE-DRAWN WAGON!
No air pollution. Had to clean up from the horse droppings. But way back, the streets were filled with horses.
I bet the city would issue horse-drawn drayman permits. Look at the horse-drawn carriages at night. They got the horse trained. And I think they have a pooper hanger.
Sheeeet! That's the way to go!

What WILL happen is that the Governor of your state will call in the National Guard. And their transportation people and any other soldier with a drivers's license will take over because you are harming the health and welfare of the entire state. Furthermore your Governor can call in federal troops to help as well. I'd suggest you get the hell out of the kitchen if you can't stand the heat.

Why, then, can the Gov't have the freedom to shut down, but not the people? Why can a Gov't Congressperson, stay in office, even until they're around 90 years of age, and the people must retire at 65? Why does the Gov't provide itself with all the freedoms and amenities, and gives the people the crumbs? You are a hypocrite. God will take care of hypocrites.

I beleive a shut down would put a halt to this price gouging that's going on by the oil companys, I'd like to see them put under oath and then ask them questions. Also as long as their making record profits why are the tax payers giving them hugh tax breaks for anything? As long as the price stays up I say SHUTEM DOWN.

DON'T commit your money, don't sign anything that commits you to work for any minimum length of time. If you need training, get it from a community college. Someday it might be a good business, but right now, RUN AWAY!

The boycott needs to be to the customers/brokers not paying the correct fuel surcharge. For food distribution, a large portion of the logistics piece is quickly transitioning over to private company fleets. This will be the standard in the next few years. Trucks deliver to customers then pick up (backhaul) freight upon returing to their distribution centers. Not only that but they will be picking up multiple facility PO's at the same time then inter-branch transferring the LTL PO's. Big business distributors can no longer afford their trucks to return to the DC's without freight to help pay for the journey. If the railroads can service the business, TOFC will become a significant method of long distance transit. Long haul carriers; align yourself into a lane with just a few primary regional distributors to shuttle their product exclusively overnight (hotshot) it back and forth between those facilities. Train your drivers to become proficient at driving pallet jacks so they can help load, unload the freight quickly from their trailers. Negotiate and offer expedited delivery programs. Be willing to accept a claim for a few shorted cases in return for having your trucks unloaded and out the door quicker. Your trucks only make money when the wheels turn!

The truckers have it right. That little cost of living given this year, if you received one did not pay for the increase in one tank of gas. Prove me wrong. I think what will happen is Diesel will go down and gas will go up. If we quit using the oil those Arabs would cry.

I think there may be something else we might do. Tell your senator and congressman if they vote any money for any oil company, they will not get a re-election vote.

That would be great for the national guard. Let's put them to work here, rather than in Iraq or Afganistan or Iran or Syria, or wherever bush wants to send them next. I wonder if they would buy gas for national guard trucks, or use gas from the national repository. I doubt that would lower our gas prices, because the gas companies can charge what the market will bear. Why would they charge less? It is the gas companies shutting down the truckers. When it becomes economically unfeasible to deliver the goods, they won't be delivered. I hope the National guard will take the gas from the gas companies claiming it is necessary for national security, without paying for it.

Vote for our Congress/Govoners ect... are Our Country's problem, could it be there is so many of them corrupt that no matter who gets in office cant do a dam thing about what is going on in our Country. If you feel differently then let me ask, Why is our Country so screwed UP, Why are there web sites saying (America is Doomed) why are they calling it (the great depression)? Let me ask you why isnt our great elected people doing anything about it now, to change the way our Country is? Could it be that it is so far gone there isnt any thing that can stop it from falling, What are the millions of people that dont have a job in America going to do to pay there bills and live? remember the free trade agreement that has allowed our manufactors to move to 3rd world countrys for cheap labor and then to ship there products back in to the USA. You dont want to look at the bad shape our country is in, you think differently. You tell me how it is going to be straightened out? and dont say vote for our elected higher ups they have allowed this to happen.

Some of the things you say are true. I dont believe some of them. I think I can, will, and do blame our government, oil company, and people(all of us) for the hardships we are having. The number one complaint I have is the carriers. If they would all stick together, small and large and back the independants and all go on strike, it could work. Thats not going to happen, but if it did, I do not believe it would take a week before some gov officials would wake up
