The chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board said Saturday that the bridge collapse in Washington state is a wake-up call for the U.S. "This is a really significant event and we need to learn from it, not just in Washington but around the country," Debbie Hersman said after taking a boat ride on the Skagit River below the dramatic scene ... Figures.
You would be the DUMBSHIT teabagger that made the mudFLAT comment.
Has the Obama administration started a program to use "taxpayer money" to give free cell phones to welfare recipients?
No. Low-income households have been eligible for discounted telephone service for more than a decade. But the program is funded by telecom companies, not by taxes, and the president has nothing to do with it.
MORE than a decade?
Who was president?
Poor teabagger.
You should double check your facts. First, look at your phone bill, the tax to pay for the phone discounts is on there, it's collected by the government and redistributed by them. It's 14 cents per line in my state.

I have no way of knowing what your telephone bill looks like, I don't get a phone bill,(automatic withdrawal).

This is where they chose to itemize one and the fee is on there:

Universal Connectivity Fee (Universal Service Fund), Federal

Because telephones provide a vital link to emergency services, to government services and to surrounding communities, it has been our nation’s policy to promote telephone service to all households since this service began in the 1930s. The USF helps to make phone service affordable and available to all Americans, including consumers with low incomes, those living in areas where the costs of providing telephone service is high, schools and libraries and rural health care providers. Congress has mandated that all telephone companies providing interstate service must contribute to the USF. Although not required to do so by the government, many carriers choose to pass their contribution costs on to their customers in the form of a line item, often called the “Federal Universal Service Fee” or “Universal Connectivity Fee”.

Phone companies have to, by law, offer you a clear and itemized phone bill, even if it's an online version such as through your email. That is federal law, so you are either lying or you are an idiot who doesn't pay attention because you want to be babysat by the government.

Are you retarded?

I stated I didn't get a bill each month, not that I couldn't access it.

Actually, I am not a teabagger, I am a non-partisan, parties are nonsense and should be removed from our politics as a whole because people just ascribe to whatever party they "feel" aligns with their personal agenda without even considering that the party is more often opposing their ideology than not. So yeah, if you don't want to look a complete fool, then stop trying to make assertions you know nothing about.

On a side note, the closest to what I am is called a Capitalist.

It wasn't an assertion.

SafeLink is run by a subsidiary of América Móvil, the world’s fourth largest wireless company in terms of subscribers, but it is not paid for directly by the company. Nor is it paid for with "tax payer money," as the e-mail claims. Rather, it is funded through the Universal Service Fund, which is administered by the Universal Service Administrative Company, an independent, not-for-profit corporation set up by the Federal Communications Commission. The USF is sustained by contributions from telecommunications companies such as "long distance companies, local telephone companies, wireless telephone companies, paging companies, and payphone providers." The companies often charge customers to fund their contributions in the form of a universal service fee you might see on your monthly phone bill. The fund is then parceled out to companies, such as América Móvil, that create programs, such as SafeLink, to provide telecommunications service to rural areas and low-income households.

The SafeLink program has actually been offering cell phones to low-income households in some states since 2008, not beginning "earlier this year," as the e-mail claims. But the program is rooted in a deeper history.

This specific program, SafeLink, started under President George Bush, with grants from an independent company created under President Bill Clinton.

Wow, that's not the fee I was talking about, you don't even know how to read, I stated "Telephone Assistance Program," not the USF. Also, I made no mention of Obama in any of my posts, I was merely correcting you on your misrepresentation of a fact, nothing more. TAP has been around a lot longer than Obama as well.

Pure bullshit! Barry O's economic stimulus package was suppose to address the aging infrastructure, it hasn't what has the money been spent on? <¦-o

This isn't a result of labor that was represented by collective bargaining. This is either an engineering or maintenance issue. Highway construction jobs go out to bid, both signatory and non signatory contractors compete for the contract. The job is awarded to the lowest bidder, that has sufficient wherewithal to complete the project, ie high enough bond and insurance to qualify for the doller amount on the project. The design of the bridge is not done by the contractor, it was designed by a professional engineering firm and went through an Army Corps of Engineers plan review. These kind of projects under go extensive inspections and must comply with DOT specifications. This had nothing to due with the labor that constructed it. Blame the government for either piss poor engineering and design or maintenance for this failure. <¦-o

Well, someone screwed the pooch since the route for an over-sized load has to be planned and approved. Pretty hard to blame the driver on this one.
And just how bad was the condition of the bridge that an "impact" that barely scratched the load's paint, could bring that bridge down?
Scary thing, I used to drive over that bridge on a fairly regular basis. I would have never expected this happening.

"Obama" phones are a myth, the only telephone assistance program is the Telephone Assistance Program, the funds have always been collected, they have always been part of the taxes, and homeless people have always had access to free cellphones that are not from the government. That's right, it's your businesses that are handing them out with prepaid accounts, for free.

You could always avoid the fees/taxes, just don't buy a phone.

The problem mainly is the difference at the road level to the bridge line of roadway. We truckers are moving at high speeds and the ripple effect of the shickwave bounces us up and down on the bridge. Thus causing the bridge to vibrate. Pretty much 3rd grade but when it comes to the State VS Federal Government highway standards its preschool intelligence. Many teams suffer bad backs. Broken bones. Cuts and bruises from being propelled out of their bunk. Or standing and falling or ejected up in the air. We need to protest and the price of load shifts and frieght damage is getting out of hand the Insurance Companies need to put their voice and motivate the Feds and States to fix the craters in the roads. Ski jumps and wide cracks are killing motorists. The truckstops are beaten to a pulp as well.. We deserve better and our highway taxes are going where? In someones pockets.. overseas accounts and squsnderkng on using airforce one as thier own private air taxi. Doing nothing for America but going on business trips that are Vacatikns disguised. Stop the nonsense or we will stop America with a nationwide shut down. Rolling road blocks and breaking down in the middle of rush hour.. we have ways to mske the average joe public pissed off. You are to blsme... Federal Highway Commissioner. MR president. Your vacations are coming to an end.. report for duty..
