Full story: ABC News

The Obama administration has agreed to reconsider a rule that allows long-haul truckers to drive for up to 11 hours straight, bowing to safety advocates who say longer hours could lead to greater fatigue and more accidents.

The 11 hour rule would be fine if it wasn't for the 14 hour rule effectively eliminating split sleeper time. I know, technically you can split sleeper time, but not nearly as effectively as you could with the old system of 10 hours on, 8 hours off, and a minimum sleeper split of 2 hours. That system worked great for about 50 years - it should have never been changed. I do love the 34 hour reset on the 70 hour rule - I would add the current reset rule to the old logging rules and I think you have a great system. The current 14 hour rule is making a mess of things though.

I fear that once the bleeding hearts are through it will be 8 hrs driving with 18 hrs off, for safety of course.

I agree with trucking truth. I was a comapny driver of a company that took straight advantage of the reset rule. With this new 14 hour rule and no split sleeper berth it can get really hard for you to get your rest out there on the road. Especially with the way that some companies out there make it near impossible to get any rest other then doing a split sleeper berth. The company we worked for ran us ragged until my husband died behind the wheel, we had no time to get any real rest. The rules need to go back the way they were with a little added protection for us drivers.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Leo

The atmosphere is highly combustible today, with people getting in a stew over the smallest little thing. You will also have a tendency to get hot under the collar, especially if someone isn't doing things as quickly as you'd like. Try to stop yourself getting in a rage because once that happens it will be difficult to cool down again. Maybe you need some fresh air?
