All these people keep saying Bush needs to do "something". What is it, exactly, that you want him to do? He's pushed for other energy sources, but people don't seem to WANT that. I still see huge SUV's with ONE PERSON in them driving to the grocery store 1/2 a mile away. There's where people (and auto companies) need to wake up! And NOW people want to use FOOD to make ethanol! What the hell?? Yes, that'll work. We may not have enough food to eat, but BOY! At least we'll be able to drive those Hummers & Excursions around by ourselves! BRILLIANT idea!

Bush wanted to drill for oil in Alaska, but "OH NO! What about the poor animals???" Guess what? The animals adapt. They built the current pipeline either UNDER ground or far enough ABOVE ground so the animals can walk either over it or under it. Have any of you ever taken that tour from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Fairbanks? It's quite impressive to see how they built that pipeline with the environment in mind. Stop griping and let's get drilling on our OWN soil!!

If we want gas prices to go down right now, STOP USING SO FREAKIN' MUCH!!! Buy cars that have better gas mileage, work from home when you can, use the slug lines or carpools. Heck, move closer to your work if you have to. That way, you can either ride a bike or walk to work! Quite honestly, I think there should be a big tax break for anyone who lives within 5 miles from their work place.

Everyone wants to know what BUSH is doing to save everyone (like our government is a dictatorship or something), but what are YOU doing to help?? All of you who have cut back on your gas usage are doing the right thing. Those who have not, STOP COMPLAINING!! You're the problem!

We all need to be down here protesting- it's ashame the govt does what it wants to do and the voice of the american people are not heard! that's why Obama is dead on it. We the people need to be heard- no more gov't ruling everything as usual. It feels like we're in a dictatorship or a communist country- where the people do not have a voice! American's are lazy! nobody wants to protest or take the time to write to congress, or show up at the senate bldg and protest. of course it's a sacrifice but it's time! Educate your children- tell them how to use their voice and be heard by the gov't!

On one hand I salute what they are doing knowing the position they are in. On the other, there isn't a lot that Washington can do about the price of oil. The traders though could be reined in. I wish I had taken the metro to work this morning!

Anon, Bush has you right where he wants you. Don't be fooled. Bush and the gov't CAN do something about the oil problem. IF we can spend billions of dollars in Iraq each year, then you know this oil issue is nothing. If you could sit with him just one day, behind closed doors. You would be amazed. and probably sick. Because He can change things. But he won't. They've (oil companies- and only God knows who else) probably been made promises and now Bush is stuck. But please know he has more control over this issue than you think...

I soooo agree with this. The politicians and the oil companies are making sooo much money, while the country is in a recession. Which the government doesn't want to fully admit. They are just making billions of dollars and reproting it to the Americans and we are supposed to just work or tails off to make more money to be able to pay our bills. We are paying ridiculious prices for gas and electricity and they know their is nothing we can do about it. We have to have electric and we need to drive. So thats what they do is hit us with costs that we cant do anything about and then try to justify it. I am so sick of the government and how they try to justify what they are doing. They actually think we can use the tax refunds as spending money to "boost" the economy. What does that tell you?? Who can afford to just "splurge" with the economy the way it is. I hope a new president can work towards showing us some relief in the near future.

I am a wife of a Trucker. I support all the truck drivers. This fuel price is not only taking a toll on them it is taking a toll on their family as well. By the time you fuel these trucks and take the loads to where they need to go, there is no money at the end of the week. Without these trucks on the road we would not have the products in the stores. Food,to live on and materials to build all of these houses that are being foreclosed on because of the economy. It is really a shame. Good Bless you Truckers .

The gas prices are outrages. We are just being raped by the oil companies and our government is allowing this to happen. There is no reason why this has to happen. We have oil resources in our own country and the American people can not keep going on like this. Something has to be done and done soon. This has to stop and the American people need to take a stand and get something done. Good for you Truckers, we have to start somewhere and I am glad you have taken this stand. We as citizens need to follow their lead. Shame on you American Government for letting this happen to your citizens.

I think what the truckers are doing is a great step to trying to get fuel prices lowered. Government has not done a thing to cap fuel prices. It seems that exxon mobile is the 2nd highest retailer in the usa doesnt that seam odd not to mention there profit margins, They get richer and the truckers that haul the commodities get poor and are losing there trucks, homes, and personnel vehicles. The price of is crazy

I think we need to thank these truck drivers for doing this. Gas for them is almost double than what we are paying yet they are coming from all over America and wasting gas in traffic and driving around the capitol to get the message across. I don't think people really understand that we are at a crossroads where if we just lay down and take this, these prices will become the regular price forever. I can hardly afford gas now and food is making things even tighter. I attribute the crime spike to rising prices all around. Gangs originally formed out of poverty, so if I and you are living check to check, think of what this man has to do to feed himself and family and he's been laid-off? I hope we can reach a solution

Didn't drivers do this already, just recently? Good for them (I guess) in trying something, but I doubt it will have any impact.

As long as we have to pay over $110.00 a barrel for oil from Arab oil sheiks, Iranian mullahs and Latin American tinpot dictators who produce it for just $8.00 a barrel, there's not much we can do about fuel prices. Blaming oil companies is counterproductive - if the price of gas rose as fast as the price of crude oil, it would be over $6.00 a gallon. Capping the price of gas would just lead to shortages and more 1970s gas lines. No thanks.
Now if we had been allowed to drill for oil here at home during the Nineties, the increased supply would've helped hold prices down.

It really moved me this morning to see those truckers coming down 270 in protest of gas prices. I certainly didn't care about the slow down it caused. More power to them!! I applaud them 100%!

THEY SHOULD PROTEST SOMEONE SHOULD. THE GAS PRICES ARE RIDICULOUS AND THEY ARE JUST GETTING WORSE. I LIVE IN SOUTHERN CALVERT AND DRIVE TO PG COUNTY EVERYDAY AND IT IS KILLING MY POCKET. I ONLY DRIVE A NEON! WE SHOULD UTILIZE OUR OWN RESOURCES IN THE US INSTEAD OF EXPORTING.
