Free Training for your CDL

Free Training: Here is what really happens: Companies need drivers because there is so much demand for freight in the American economy. The more drivers a company has, the more freight they move. Some companies that need a lot of drivers have decided to start training drivers to meet this need. To get a lot of people to go into the training, some companies claim that the training is free. They tell you it will cost you little or no money. But then they tell you to sign an agreement with a lot of fine print (sometimes you won't see this agreement until after you have quit your job or have traveled to the training location -- so your stuck!). The agreement usually has two important catches: (1) that you have to work for the company for some period after training and (2) that if you leave early you owe the company for the costs of training. These agreements can require one or two years of work with the company before you can take another job. That is a huge part of your life to in debt to one company. Many times the company will also try to make you pay for the training by either taking back part of your pay every week or by providing a reduced pay scale until you have paid them back for training. Either way, it's not free. Read more

If you sign a contract for "free training" then you will find you really are working for next to nothing. Don't do it.

Dont go to England they send you to a school on the greyhound and then its all bs after that.
my brother went to cr england and we dont mind their potentially high turnover rate, cuz he can teach me thru them and then we can go be a team (weird?)

i think it takes a special personality to be a truck driver and those that aren't able to hack the few weeks of training then the couple months driving. who cares if the pay is crap at first, you are just learning and 250 a week is better than the 0 a week i am currently making..

It kills me to hear "steering wheel holder" while that may be so to an extent. What about all thé lives at risk while you hold that wheel? Four wheelers Have little to no idea What degree of thought it takes to manuever through thèse highways with all thé late for work careless drivers that always are on their phones.. Most could not navigate à truck into à tight space in à forward gear much less backwards. Driving is not à Good job for everyone. Its like with any job that you will Have to start at thé bottom. Be safe. Dont speed. get your expérience wherever you can. With expérience you can work anywhere is you dont Have too many points and accidents on your record. Most important : Take your time and be safe. Rules and régulations are there for à reason. Dont let any company make you drive over your limit. Its on youo matter What. you Have an accudent and thé company will hang you out to dry and you will not work anywhere. Slow down on ramps. You Have à rollover and your truck Driving career is over.

check with job and family services. there are grants available for schooling. Ithere was recruiters at My school. Drivers that went with them did not last .20 cents à mile for 18 months is less than minimum wage. À few did last and They Now Have Good routes and pay where They get home When They want.

There is no such thing as free training, if a company tells you that training is free they are lying. most all companies will require at least an 18 and up to 24 months of a contract. you will also run at whatever the company minimum hauling rate for the whole time. after your "free training" you will run with a trainer from anywhere from 6 to 24 weeks at the rate of 350 to 400 a week gross, then depending on when the trainer says you are ready he will cut you loose. and so you know this time with the trainer is not covered under your contract, your contract will start when the trainer releases you to run on your own. here is the kicker, and pay real close attn. if you fail school or get fired before the contract is up you will be held liable for the full amount of whatever the school charges for training. school charges can go from $3,000 up to $8,000 and even $10,000 dollars.
