I have been saying this since day one of my driving career . there is a perfect solution to put an end to all of this garbage in the trucking industry ,but know one wants to do it . Other countries have done it with perfect results . I am the victim of BS dac entries from one company and now I am starving to death and stuck working for a scumbag company here in dirty Jersey .
the solution to all of our troubles ???
STOP THE TRUCKS why cant drivers see that we have the massive power to change all of this . Yes I know there are bills to pay, truck payments to make and families to care for but , think about it ,if we stop for 24 to 48 hours what do you think would happen to this country . IT WOULD COME TO A DEAD HALT plain and simple . all we need to do is ban together and let the GOVERNMENT know WE ARE TIRED OF THIS CRAP AND WE WANT IT TO CHANGE TO WHAT WE WANT AND NEED NOT WHAT THEY WANT .
I l know I am wasting my breath here but just wanted to say WE HAVE THE POWER NOW LETS USE IT
Dealing with DAC is a joke , dont waste your time you will get know where . DAC makes millions from the trucking companies ... get the picture ? there is money invovled so we get screwed. Truck drivers should be some of the highest paid people in this country . WE MAKE THIS COUNTRY WITH OUT US , THIS COUNTRY HAS NOTHING .
Trucking Companies should be forced to go by a persons state MVR and thats it . All of this garbage about hiring only safe drivers is BS if you do not have any accidents on your state MVR there is no reason why DAC and trucking companies can use thier own definition of an accident because 99% of the time what they call an accident isnt .think about this , every driver who loads or unloads at a loading dock , according to DAC and the carriers safety Depts has had an accident everytime you DUMP THAT DOCK
I could go on for ever . I know there is going to be some butt kissing driver who will respond to this saying that I am a unsafe driver I see it everyday in all the post . Most of them who respond in that way say they have never had an accident and most are full of S..T
STOP THE TRUCKS
After looking at your post again it obvious you had some vehicle damage. Your right it doesn't always get a police report. But if it is damage that results in lowering the value of anything that is considered an accident.

I'm not saying your an unsafe driver, just a sloppy one. Hopefully you don't hurt anyone.

The reason I suggested the large companies, is because they usually take "graduates" of driving schools, so he is more likely to get hired. Heck, he only has to stay 6 mos, if he found someone that requires that amount of time. It's the laspe in driving history that is hurting him.

Sounds like he's been that route and they don't want him. I suspect he has conditions they find unacceptable. Like retraining. It is going to be tough to get a job with any companies soon. Anyone on the bottom of the totem pole will have a tough time keeping the wheels turning. Freight is getting thin.

Right now for any open job, many, many, qualified applicants are applying. I was paid more per mile in the 1970s-early80s the the crap companies start at now. Also was paid waiting after 1 hour, paid entire time if I touched the freight, paid for truck breakdowns, repair time, DOT delays for truck inspections, highways closed due to weather, company paid health insurance driver and family, holiday pay, etc, etc, etc. A lot of crap companies don't pay a lot of this stuff now. So if someone a company thinks is not going to put up with their crap and not stick around long, they are not going to want to spend anything to run with a trainer or pay for a refresher course. They are not going to say that of course.

You are looking in the wrong places. I have all the things you say you had in the 70's. I make over $80,000 and get all the benefits. Why should any company hire you on face value?

I agree, Maverick should look for work at the better companies, like Con-way (company drivers). Con-way has few openings, and (around this area) they have numerous 1 and 2 million-mile no chargeable drivers applying. These drivers typically worked for comparable pay for other freight companies that have closed. They would hire these guys first. Also these drivers would not even apply at a crap company because of the bad pay and conditions, likewise the crap companies would be reluctant to hire them they know these drivers wouldn't put up with them for long. So guys like Maverick are kind of stuck in the middle. The good companies have lots of more experienced (the best of the best) applicants, and the crap companies know he won't put up with their crap for long. The other thing, if he let his CDL lasp (or did not convert his pre-cdl truck drivers license) then he is not in the CDL-DMV/DOT data base. Then they don't know what kind of driving record has occurred. On non-cdl licenses sometimes things like DUI get "supervision", "conditional dismissal", "expungement", "plea-bargained down" etc. Not saying this happened with Maverick, but with a non-CDL the trucking companies would not be able to rule it out.

Agree, no such thing as an honest trucking company that is hiring anyone, if they are still in business at all. Any honest ones still here today will probably be gone soon. Only the worst of the worst will survive, mostly at the expense of the drivers.

Yes, it is true. When it all comes down to it, the most needed industry in this country alone is the Trucks. Yet, we are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to respect and we all know why. When I say respect I'm mean wages, treatment, laws, etc. Why we will not stick together, we all have our views on this. the one thing I do know even though we all have our own cross to bare, we all still have one huge one to carry and that has to be done together. We have to stop thinking of the next man and whether he will have more than me. Waking up this country, to see that they need us. Is for all, not one driver. I am a female driver that's been in this since 92. I love trucking, but, it's coming pass the point of ridiculous on how hard it is to make a dieing with it let alone a living. There's a big difference between living and existing and that's what a lot of drivers haven't realized.

Truck drivers, I am a new owner Operator so that really does not make me a truck driver, I am only doing this until I get my B.S. in business Science. It is an online college.
Fact here, I have figured out away to stop cheap freight, brokers ripping you off, and still shippers that can ship freight at a cheap price or what they can afford. Plus each item is different. You will not take paper, food, produce for a cheap price, compared to items at a cheaper price. no matter.
I have found away to stop all of this and to bring back the independent truck driver. I will have 50,000 saved up next year, but would rather try to start this business with 250,000 to 400,000. I will be the sole proprietorship and will consider all the facts.
safe drivers
no DAC is worth reading to me
Really does not matter what you have as long as the insurance covers you.
bad attitude, keep it to yourself.
Will never leave you unpaid, out away from home telling you do it or give your permits back to us.
I am going to change the trucking Industry and it should change the economy.
Who will not like this, bigger companies that can wipe me out if they wanted too. I will put it up to a challenge for them.
my website will be for independent truckers and small fleets. It will also before bigger fleets if they decide to merge with me later, still making me the Sole Proprietorship.
You ask how? Well I know, but can not share the information I told a few, but then I thought I better stop telling people, because when I told them it seemed liked they did not know what I was talking about or how it would work. Lucky me.
This will be a low profit business. My Managers will not get paid 6 digits.
Why am I talking about this, because I need help with some funds, you don't have to nor do I encourage you to, but I will show you a balance everymonth until I get enough to start it up. Think of it like this, just buy me a meal at the flying J. Tell your friends to buy one for me too.
What do you owe me, nothing. I owe you and will send it back if you want it back after I start this up. iamneal07 at your one and only yahoo
Don't stop driving because you will never be able to do that.
Make another change in this wonderful world of life. I can help make this change.
I am one that will not want to get rich doing this, but help you live a better life.
Good luck drivers, bad luck brokers. More drivers then brokers, lets see what we can do.

Couldn't agree more, it's a total scam, I quit years ago, became an electrician, that is a pretty poor game right now, but was down at a trucking company terminal last week with the line truck and big trencher on the trailer and the guy in the office looked at me for a bit and looked at the truck and trailer and asked me if I ever thought about driving a "big" truck for a trucking company, never told him my story, but said to him, "no, not yet, but give me a minute, no I don't think so".
One of the guy's from high school has alway's been an owner operator and is a smart guy and has been able to make some real good money at it, learned it from his dad far more after the bills are paid than he ever would have made driving for any company, but if they get what they want a huge inrush of new untrained drivers, it will not help anyone, I don't think I would ever get hungry enough to consider going back, even started back farming this spring as I knew things were going to be tight with the obama economy, if I get rain when I need it and things go good, even with prices as low as they are now we should walk away with 75,000.00 profit, all the equipment has been paid off for years..
