Prop. 8 foes plan protest at Long Beach Hyatt

Full story: Long Beach Press-Telegram

Gay activists will be protesting at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach this afternoon because an owner of another Hyatt hotel is a strong opponent of gay marriage and last year made a six-figure donation to the Yes on Proposition 8 campaign.

How many times do we have to say this?

The people have spoken.... TWICE!

It is now up to the men in the black dresses to decide... AGAIN!

I wonder why people bother to vote when the decisions of the people are questioned over and over again.

I absolutely agree. Even more, these people can't demand that someone, or a corporation change their mind. The Hyatt has every right to do what they feel in their hearts..support traditional marriage..that's all. Protesters need to get over it and get on with their lives if they have one. Seems to me that they waste so much time trying to change peoples minds (not to mention acting like fools) that I don't believe they have anything better to do. Which is really sad. Everyone should enjoy their lives & what we they do have because it will be over one day, & then what?

Enough is Enough, what good does protesting at another business do?, the Manchester Hyatt in San Diego should be the target, not Long Beach. I voted against Prop 8 because it denies people their rights, but aren't we denying that ignorant, bigoted, hateful man that ownes the Hyatt in San Diego his right of free thought and speech? Think about it - it goes both ways.

Leave the Long Beach Hyatt alone. They are hurting enough without the gay community making it worse. Go down to San Diego and protest the hotel that took this stance. Do you not understand that our city is hurting financially? Or do you only care about getting married. The gay community is not monolithic.

Remember that the gay community doesn't accept free speech if it doesn't agree with them. Shows what their true intentions are. To force people to accept them. Just be happy and keep your lifestyle to yourself. I don't go around trying to make people accept me. Get on with your life.

This is one Gay Man who thinks this is counterproductive and pure the epitome of self destructive nonsense. Protest at OUR Hyatt because ANOTHER HYATT did something the Gays didn't like????

Huh????

Negative attention is rarely better than none at all.

Strong Arm Tactics.... Nice thought process, we need to fire everyone who has a different opinion than us. Hypocrites!!!

This is exactly why so many people voted for Prop8. "Whether you like it or not...it's going to happen." Ya right!

Arrogance and Pride is going to be your downfall.

See you at the 'Pride' Parade!

Do I have this correct? These groups are protesting at the Long Beach Hyatt Hotel because the owner of the owner of the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego made a donation to the "Yes on 8" Campaign? Pretty absurd. Apparently these people feel that no one is entitled to an opposing opinion, as guaranteed in the U. S. Constitution. Apparently, they also fail to accept the repeated judgement of the voters.

Something that many of the commenters here are missing is that the Hyatt Corporation didn't do anything for or against Prop 8. The owner of the Hyatt in San Diego exercised his personal right to support a political position by making a personal donation in support of it. That has nothing to do with the hotel company. Most of these protests are misplaced. Many of them, like this one, target businesses which had nothing to do with the campaign. The gay community is continuing to protest the judgement of the voters by attacking businesses and churches. However, I notice that they have yet to attack a black church, where much of the funding and activism for Prop 8 came from.

They obviously picked Long Beach because we are known to be the stupidest, most self destructive, lunatic Left citizens in the shambles that is lunatic Left California.

Where better for such a degrading act to take place.

Embrace the Disgrace.

I just find the whole protest a hotel that did nothing to you a big joke. I will be at the Borders books across from the Hyatt. I will see first hand how many people come out to protest, And what their arguments are.

These protesters better not hurt what little business we have here in downtown. All for their selfish agenda. I once took no side on this issue, But after meeting some really mean people in the gay community i changed my position from neutral to yes on 8.

Rick, I respectfully disagree. Long Beach has yet to even come close to resting the crown for moronic behavior from the City of San Francisco, for which Gavin Newsome is the poster boy. It's too bad we can't simply attach both Newsome and Villaraigosa to an anchor and deposit them deep in the pacific ocean.

How appropriate that this Sanctuary City accessory to the Bologna family Murders is to be the GRAND MARSHALL of the LB Gay Pride Parade.

It takes a "unique" vision to be "proud" of such an anti citizen slug.

Very Progressive. Very Long Beach.

Way to go HJyatt, way to go Doug Manchester. I am proud of you for standing up for what you believe in. I support you 1,000%. To those who are protesting, you have the right to protest in the United States but you do not have the right to shove your beliefs on me.

You are right. Despite wimpy Big Hotel yielding to radical extremist anti smoker demands,(a movement begun right here in Long Beach by our own corrupt Long Beach politicians), those making false claims that we are a "democracy" that is governed by mob action quickly appeal to republican protections whenever "the people" fail to vote the "right" way.

While I understand how you feel, 2 wrongs don't make a right. Don't lower YOUR standards because of someone else (or in this case another group). Stick up for yourself no matter what. Yeah, they shouldn't be in L.B. but they are just hurting themselves even more. WE have more PRIDE than they do..don't forget that.

Gay Marriage, how is it consumated? Marriage is consumated by procreation, sex beween a male and a female! This known as mating! Gays cannot marry and procreate! it is impossible unless one has a female or a male! A plug with a recepter create an electrical curcuit! Gays have no pride and never will! Society exists on procreating life and not creating it, distroys ciivilization!

Guess some far left lunatic leader of the Gay Community thinks that ridiculously misdirected anger to those who did NOTHING to them would engender support for their issues.

Nice thought process Guys??????

For my many gay friends: be careful what you wish for! The concept of gay marriage also implies the concept of gay divorce... believe me you don't want to go through one of those.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Cancer

Be careful today Cancer, because your emotions could cloud certain issues as they often to and leave you feeling confused. You should be especially wary of believing what you want to believe, rather than believing the evidence in front of your eyes. It's easy to kid yourself now about someone's motives or reliability, even if deep down you know that you're telling yourself a load of old twaddle.
