Remember the "steering error" last year when the Princess cruise ship off Port Canaveral almost flipped over, tossing passengers from the swimming pool onto the deck and almost overboard? The ship was on autopilot. To me, that clearly points to some computer software malfunction. The CEO is responsible for making good choices in that area, or hiring good people to help him make those choices.

Hopefully he will not soon be in another position to make poor decisions that could endanger the lives of the public.

maybe they will hire someone that can revamp Princess menus. Sailed on the Star Princess in April and have had better foood at Denny's. Yuck!

Give me Holland America, Royal Caribbean or Celebrity anyday.

Its good to hear favorable things about a CEO when they leave the company for once. To often the scandals and schemes are the only things being reported.

Also, I haven't actually booked anything through Princess for myself but I've been told their Alaskan Cruises are great.

The Inconvenient Truth. The Star Princess Baltic Sea cruise had passengers arriving at 9:30AM in Copenhagen, Denmark. Setting in a large building for over 2 hours while they cleaned up the ship. It was inconvenient for Princess to arrange a tour for the waiting passengers even though the ship would not leave port until 6:00PM. They told us to go to the tour desk and arrange a tour for the end of the trip as our plane would not leave until 3:35PM. Guess what, the tour desk would not book a tour unless your plane left after 4:00PM. The tour would leave you off at the airport at 1:30PM which was 2 hours before our flight. Once, again it was inconvenient for Princess to arrange a tour for us. Once again, we sat in the airport this time. We spent more time in Cophenhagen that in any other port except St. Petersburg and did not get to see any of it. It will be inconvenient for me to cruise with Princess in the future.

We sailed on the Crown Princess in April 2006 on a 7- day cruise from San Juan, Puerto Rico. My husband, daughter and I are seasoned frequent cruisers and we usually sail to the Caribbean annually (since the 1980’s) because we love the ambiance of cruising. We typically enjoy our annual Caribbean retreats so much that we are frequent cruisers on several cruise lines. Even our worst experiences while cruising would allow us to still make a 4 to 5 star rating on any of our past cruises, until our experience on the Crown Princess in April 2006. The events that transpired during this week were so outrageous that they are still vividly etched in the minds of my family members as well as mine.
The Maid
Upon arrival to our cabin we met our maid who was the rudest most arrogant person that we had ever met. On day 1 she argued when I asked her for extra towels since we had a 3rd person in our cabin. I also requested extra lotion and shampoo due to all of our swimming-related activities. She reluctantly gave us additional shampoo but only after my daily requests for the products. Next, my 8-year old daughter’s new bathing suit immediately disappeared after she cleaned the cabin. When confronted, she repeatedly denied that she had taken the suit. We were so outraged that we reported the incident to guest relations. The final issue and most disturbing was when she removed a brand new souvenir gift glass from our cabin. She denied that she had seen it yet, a few minutes later, I found the souvenir on her supply cart. At that point, we were fearful to have her in or near our cabin so the incident was again reported to guest relations on the ship. Guest relations reassigned her and another person assumed her duties in our cabin for the remaining days of our cruise.
The Rowdy Neighbors
During the first 3 to 4 days of the cruise our neighbors were so noisy and rowdy that we had to report them to Guest Relations. The neighbor’s disruptive behavior escalated to the point that when my daughter and I were sleeping in the bunk bed, when we were nearly knocked out of our beds by their raucous brawling behavior. Specifically, someone on the other side of our shared cabin wall had charged and hit the wall with such high impact that I saw the wall actually flex as though someone was going to sail through the wall into our cabin. At the same time our mattresses literally were bumped away from the wall. As a result, our 8-year old was terrified to go to sleep in our cabin. We repeatedly asked guest relations to move us from our disruptive neighbors to another cabin but the move was denied as we were informed that the ship was booked to capacity.
Outcome
Upon our return home, my husband and I wrote to Princess Cruise Lines to express our grave concern over the failed maid service and Princess’s inability to confront and resolve the inappropriate behavior of our rowdy neighbors in a timely manner. Essentially we paid for a 7-day cruise but we were only able to enjoy the last half of our cruise. We requested a refund toward a future cruise. However, instead of a refund, Princess elected to give two of the 3 of us a small credit.

I recent sent 2 emails to PC regarding shore excursions that were fully booked 2 months prior to sailing. Needless to say I was unhappy to find out I will be wait-listed on 3 of the excursions. No one at Princess seems to know if more excursions will be added and no responds to my email (2) inquiries.
I will have to try a non Carnival owned cruise company.

The Berkely insurance sold by Princess is a scam and needs to be prosecuted for fraud. Because I knew that Medicare does not cover illness outside the country, I bought the Berkely insurance which was recommended by the travel agent. I became ill and had to see the ship doctor. It cost me about $120. I submitted the charge to Berkely and was told to submit it to Medicare. Why? In their sales form Berkely acknowledges that Medicare does not cover such illnesses. Why would anyone buy Berkely's coverage if Medicare already such illness?

Just returned from a coastal cruise on the Sapphire Princess. The wait to exit the ship at the ports was about an hour after waiting in a line that wound all around the decks. The disembarkation yesterday was very mishandled and stressful. We waited in a line standing in a concrete tunnel for almost an hour while many other passengers passed us to board the busses. Finally after more than an hour we left Vancouver for Seattle. The driver dropped us at arrivals instead of departures without all our luggage and no help. Finally the luggage arrived on another bus meanwhile luggage from other passengers who weren't there stood unguarded on the curb. We would have missed our flight had it not been departing late because of all the Princess transfer snafu. It's on to RCCL for us!

We were to have been on the Royal Princess cruise leaving Athens on June 25, 2009. The cruise was cancelled due to a fire onboard the week before. I'm wondering if there is anyone else out there, like our family, who arrived at the pier in Athens only to be told that the ship was in dry dock and our cruise was cancelled? Princess did not attempt to telephone us, our emergency contact person or our travel agent. Had they done so, we could have possibly made other plans.

We just returned last night from a Crown Princess cruise to the British Isles. The ship was dirty and smelly and had curtains that were held up by strings and pins in the International Cafe. Surly help in the buffet, and gambling closed for 5 nights. One of our favorite after dinner things is to go and gamble a litle. No such luck. When we asked about it the person at the desk quite rudely told us to check with your travel agent as they had all been advised of this. So I checked with our travel agent and not only had she not been advised, but she requested the information that was supposedly sent to her company informing them of the closing of the casino and they have yet to send it to her. I would never recommend Princess lines.

Why, in this day and age of instant updates and instant information about anything and everything EXCEPT for updates on the Princess ship that was supposed to dock in Santiago, Chile. I've been on hold for 30 minutes - and this is the EMERGENCY line because the regular Call Princess line just hangs up on callers - I'm assuming because of the over load.
How difficult is it to pre-record and update the status every few hours?
Does anyone out there know anything?

I should be shortly taking my first cruise with Princess Cruises. However unlike the many cruises I have taken before I am not looking forward to this one. Just 10 days before the off we are informed that major changes have been made to the flights and Princess is now expecting us to wait for 11 hours in Miami Airport for a rearranged overnight flight to Brazil, instead of having an overnight hotel stay in Miami. Trying to get anyone in authority at Princess to speak to you is like trying to pick up Mercury. Princess does not care about customers. Trying to cancel this cruise and get money back, certainly will never consider Princess for future cruises

I can see by reviewing the comments above, that we
are not alone in our dissatisfaction with Princess.
We were to take our 14th cruise May 30 and never left the airport in Amarillo. We had book air through Princess because it clearly states that they will work to find reasonable alternatives to
connecting with the ship. This was not done. They could have delayed leaving by 30 min. but wouldn't do so.And we have been on many cruises where they delayed leaving for more than 2 hours waiting for passengers. We were told "tough" about missing our
cruise. Then the lady at Berkely Care said that was no reason to cancel the cruise.
Just want to let all would be Princess passengers don't go Princess. We are going to have to try other cruise lines now. Maybe Holland America.

Just returned from Crown Princess North Atlantic Cruise and was so disappointed. Didn't make port in Belfast or in Reykjavik and from what we heard, that did not have to happen. Long, long excursion lines; no apology from Princess and no way to complain to the mucky mucks. My first cruise on Princess and my last. I will never waste my time or money on a second class ship again.

We have booked our 5th cruise on Princess. Now we understand why so many negative comments. I hope you are also writing to the leader CEO, the one who has complete control over improvement. Although we paid in full the airline that Princess has booked us with had no record. When we finally were allowed to pick our seats we could not find 2 seats together for a 12 hour flight. Princess booked us on flights with 8 hours of delay. We have always had good luck but Princess is now failing. Seems to be due to ignorance as it is so easy to book with another cruise line and I think Princess will soon find that out.

My wife and I just came back from our third cruise
with Princess.( a 10 day cruise to the Panama Canal )What a disappointment.Princess "lost"
my suitcase.After beeing picked up at the airport in Fort Lauderdale our suitcases where put on the bus provided by Princess.Only my wife's arrived at
our cabin many hours later.I filed a lost luggage report the next morning.After a number of searcheson board and also in Fort Lauderdale I was told that my suitcase was confirmed missing.One other passengers lugagge was also "lost",it was also loaded onto the same bus and disappeared.The same thing happened at the previous cruise leaving
Fort Lauderdale. I think something is rotten here.
The only thing Princess would offer me was a $250
on board credit,so Icould buy myself some badly needed clothing (underware etc.) Guess what? My size was not available,and I am not a huge man.
Had to go into Aruba to get some clothing.
That is all Princess would do for me!!!
Going to write a nasty letter to the CEO.
Will I travel with Princess again?? I'll see if I get an answer.Maybe an other cruise line would be better.
