Actuallly RETCAPT pension is not protected. It is at the whim of management. So he should be worried about the numbers of which you speak. Of couse he came from Republic which NWA bought when it was in distress . At NWA w he got to fly real airplanes instead of the puddle jumpers Republic had. Not bad ..actually he was hired at a regional..was never put thru the hiring process at a major carrier(or failed it). Not a bad deal!

WHAT??? republic was not a regional back then, it is now though, but a totally different airline. do you know anything? actually at one time republic had more flights and flew to more cities than any other airline (early 80's). w/o republic, nwa would have been bought back then. and w/o the dc-9's, the nw domestic system would never have made money. learn your facts before you make a fool out of yourself with ignorant posts.

I can only say that I wish I had the gift you are blessed with. I can't imagine what it must be like to have to perform to a given level to occupy the left seat of a B-747.

Hell, I walked in the door after NWA purchased Republic and they just handed me a type rating on the B-747-200 and DC-10, just to fill in the squares, no questions asked. How could anyone who never went through a NWA interview possibly have the moxie to advance to such a position...and without a college degree?

I have never denied my good fortune. But, I don't have to apologize for it either. BTW, North Central was my first choice. I few some of the "puddle jumpers" your old timers (back then) flew and the airline never experienced a strike. We did, however, have NWA pilots flying with us during one or two of NWAs. Actually, you don't know the half of it.
