Reports say Denver loses 250 Frontier Airlines jobs

Full story: Fox 31 KDVR

Denver lost about 250 jobs at Frontier Airlines Tuesday. Frontier's parent company, Republic Airways Holdings Inc., called a news conference Tuesday to announce that Milwaukee had won a three-city battle for the 250 jobs that are currently located in Denver.

We were sooooo stupid to not accept Southwest's offer of employment. The bottom of an active seniority list is way better than the top of an inactive one.

We are on the way to standing in the same line as Midwest pilots.

Does this come as a surprise to anyone who has been here for a while. The state and the City of Denver are not exactly what you would call business friendly.

The dismantling has started. Frontier pilots and the rest of the employees will be auctioned off to the lowest bidder. Frontier pilots, you guys have always been a fun and professional group, but I think you made a big mistake by not taking the Southwest offer.

By the end of next year, Southwest will outnumber Frontier in jobs in Denver.

Then go put in your application at Southwest...no one is making you stay at Frontier and it doesnt sound like you want to be there!

What a friggin mess.. I have a hard time understanding how this is the better alternative to accepting the bid from Southwest.. There's no secret that Southwest intended to merge Frontier into Southwest but at least they were up front about it. Now the other shoe falls that MAYBE Republic wasn't the savior to Frontier in DEN that everyone had touted them to be. Is anyone shocked? Southwest would have hired ALL of the Frontier people just as they did with Morris and Midway Airlines, and everyone would be much better off. Not to mention Southwest would have benefited greatly from the assets it would have acquired in the deal.. This has all been an incredible waste. Republic will inevitably fail and this will all have been a major blunder.

My app has been in with SWA for a year. I was hired and am in the pool awaiting a class date but they are not training right now. If the economy would ever get better I'd have a job with a great company. Frontier is a great place but if you can't see the writing in large bold print before your eyes you will be in the same line as the Eastern FA's and the Braniff FA's and the TWA FA's etc., etc. SWA will eventually get all our flying out of DEN and most of the equipment when RAH ditches all us employees. I'll just be senior to the rest of our group that stayed till the bitter end. No hard feelings, just the reality of life.

That is not a true statement. Southwest hired some people from Morris and Midway, but certainly not ALL of them.

We hired all the Morris folks. Even the ones who had been turned down in our interview process before they got on at Morris. They were "stapled" but pay protected.

As for Midway...I'm not sure.

SWA never bought Midway so of course they wouldn't hire all their employees.

However, SWA DID bring on all the Morris folks because they purchased the entire airline.

No, SWA did not hire all the Morris folks. Yes, SWA took on all the Morris pilots. And they hired some, but not all, Morris folks in other positions after the normal interview process. With Midway it was even less.
