Just curious if anyone who smokes Marlboro cigarettes has noticed that they do not stay lit. Half way through a cigarette it will literally burn itself out. I have noticed this change in the last couple of months and am beginning to wonder if there has been a chemical change to the cigarettes to cause this. I am not the only one who has noticed this and I am curious as to how widespread this is and also if this is experienced lately with any other brands.
Any info would be great.

California as of Jan 2007 requires self-extinguishing
cigarettes. I believe about 15 other states do now or have them on the law books.

It's to prevent deaths from unattended cigs.

I found it adds kinda a funny sulphur soapy taste.

I just ordered from a state that has the old type.

I hate them! They either go out, or a big chunk fall off, burning everything on the way down and stays lit on the floor. They keep burning me,especially in the car.

Yeah, i noticed they taste much different now too. Actually, i think its makes me feel sick too(stomach nausia). Good reason to quit now. Who knows what kind of shit they put in them to make them stop burning. But whatever it is, i can sure taste it, and it sure does make me feel real strange.

The new formula not only tastes funny, but it leaves my mouth and throat all nasty feeling (cotton mouth immediately after smoking). This is one quick way to make a non-smoker out of me, as I feel like I am having an allergic reaction everytime I like up. Also they are giving me a headache. Who do we complain too about this???

I live in California and I smoke Saratoga and am having the same problem. Then a couple of my friends who smoke other brands noticed the same thing. When I am have to pay over forty dollars a carton for ciggretts that won't stay lit and leave a bad taste in my mouth will force me to buy from another State who didn't pass this stupid law. I guess after doing all the scare tactics imaginable now they have resorted to this!

Another Marlboro smoker here who noticed all the above; I heard it was a Ca law to have the cigs extinquish to prevent more fires, burns, and other safety reasons. They definately taste different. Myself and friends, family who smoke them all have this horrible congested cough after smoking these lately in the last couple of months. I heard it was all cigs made by Phillip Morris. I would and am going to write to Phillip Morris about it and complain. After being a smoker of Marlboro for many years, I bought a "non" Phillip Morris generic brand today. I can't stand the new defunked Marlboro's any longer. I'm tired of the fire going out and the chemical taste they have. It makes me wonder what they added to them. I know cigs aren't safe, but they don't need to kill us smokers off any faster!

Wel accualy there has been a chemical change in the Marlboro cigarettes. They used to put ammonia in them, but then they got sued for it.
But personaly I don't have this problem at all, but I don't linger over a smoke :)

It is nasty chemicals that "keep" them burning. Natural tobac and wrapper will not stay lit, for instance, Shermans, a decent cigar, pipe, etc.
