The long-term future of the International Automotive Components Group plant in Carlisle might not clear up for months.

An official with the Dearborn, Mich.-based auto parts supplier said Friday the company won't know how or if the Carlisle plant or any others will be impacted until after it closes a deal to buy 16 plants from bankrupt supplier Collins and Aikman.

“Our manufacturing footprint is still being developed,” said David Emerling, director of corporate development.“There's too much going on to finalize any of that right now.”

IAC just completed a joint venture for 26 former Lear Corp. plants, including 50 Spring Road in Carlisle, about six weeks ago, he said.

Local plant disposable?

this was on the top of the screen were it says full story: cumberlink.com that was published may 19 so i dont think anyone is certain what is going on with any of the facilities until Ross sees if he can get his hands on this buisness

Most C A plants are non-union there is no one to negotiate with. When / if he decides for cuts no one there can stop him.

That very well could be Ross's plan, to shut down the C&A plants and move all our buisness to the lear plants, but what makes more sence pay lear 18.00 to 20.00 dollars an hour to do the same thing we do in the south for 10.00 to 13.00 dollars an hour. Every thing I have read about Ross says he likes to move buisness where labour is the cheapest, that would be the south, and in the south Ross dont have to put up with the Union, because we are all non-union, we have fewer benifits, and pay more on our med-insurance, he would save a lot of money in the south, thats just my opinion. I dont want to see anyone from Lear or C&A loose their jobs, we all have bills to pay. Good luck to all.

Dam! Where in the US is there Lear/IAC plants that average $18-20 dollars??? Obviously you havent done your homework on us. I only know of one plant in Canada that has wages that high. We only make $13.50 in Lebanon, and not much more in all the others!

Saint Clair Mi. carpet plant makes $13.00 for operators, all 3 shifts. No sick or personal days, only vacation days. Oh, they do get a emergency day, but here's the kicker, you must notify the company 24 hours in advance to use it. So, plan for a emergency wisely. HA

Whatever happen to Magna man and his comments about Ross selling contracts to JCI and Icahn to Magna. I was interested in what this all meant and whether it is true. He had an IP address for Canada.

In Old Fort, I believe operators make 11 to 12 dollars an hour. Skilled trades (electricians etc.) make more.
