We just want to view CBS prime shows. Nobody cares about their news. Just about everyone watches WSAZ for news.

WOWK GM didn't want to comment on the situation since she probably don't even know what DISH is. Or she is so busy begging advertisers to buy commerical time so they will have some revenue coming in to keep the lights on.

Hopefully if this continues, Dish will be able to replace them with the CBS station in Cincinnati. Dish customers and non Dish customers just want to see their favorite CBS shows. Nobody care about their news. When they show a story on their news WSAZ & WCHS had already covered that story 3 days earlier. And if "Let Don Do It" wants to do something good, then start first by fixing the company you work for. It has more damage than anything else I know of.

I wish DISH would blackout all of WOWK newscasts. It is too painful to watch. If they had some somewhat attractive anchors, it would make it a little better to watch. That guy at 6pm needs to spend some time in a taning booth and the lady....where do I start ?

Attractive anchors at WOWK? Ha ha ha. That's an oxymoron. Well, okay, maybe Tom McGee was an "attractive anchor" to the women and 10% of the men before he became a big-city attorney, but that's another story. Yeah, dump WOWK even after they reached an agreement and put on CBS out of Pittsburgh, Roanoke, Washington or even that hellish place, Baltimore, but we sure can do without WOWK for more than two weeks. DUMP WOWK, DISH!

Since WOWK never covers OH & KY news, DISH as well as cable customers should have WOWK replaced with either the CBS station in Columbus for Ohio and Lexington for the KY students. If even wouldn't hurt if WV residents could get CBS from a NYC station since viewers only watch WOWK for the 8-11pm CBS programs.

Anything but WOWK. I only watch their news once a year or so. That's just for comic relief. They're lousy........still

Their news is the best sitcom on tv. Keeps me laughing the whole show.

I saw that WOWK news for the first time in sixteen months today, and he in the devil is that desperately old guy who's reading the news from that teleprompter? Is this how WOWK saves money, pay somebody who's on social security to come out and work part-time? Maybe they should go the celebrity route like WCHS tried to do with that husband-wife team and enlist Mary Lou Retton as their news reader. Or how about that girl over in Wirt County who got held captive by them savages over in Iraq? She could be a good celebrity news reader for WOWK.

No offense to senior citizens but does WOWK hold anchor auditions at AARP meetings ? That old man at 6pm is so horrible to watch.

I think WOWK should go for the full course and just bring 98-year-old Ken Hechler who fought and killed Nazis in World War I out to be the news anchor. Heck, he'd be younger than that guy they've got in there now. Or at least he'd look younger anyway.

Look, Joe XIII, 98-year-old Ken Hechler didn't just fight and kill Nazis. He CRUSHED their BONES in their SKINS to dust with his bare hands. But you sure are right that Hechler would make a good news anchor on WOWK because he's a heck of a lot younger than what they got on there now with a whippersnapper 85-year-old.

I have a very small antenna (remember those?) that I get 14 local channels on. Cable nor satellite carry all the channels you can get on an antenna. The digital signal now provided by all the local stations mean that you can often get a picture where you couldnt before. It helps to buy a new antenna made just for digital however.

By the way, Ken Heckler never killed anyone. He wasn't in that arm of the service. He was a high class clerk.

In that great book "The Man who Interrogated Nazis," Heckler is quoted as saying, "When I saw Nazis with their knuckles dragging on the ground and their hairy fists giving me the middle finger salute, I grabbed a bunch of them and sent them to Hell with my bare hands." I believe him.

In a written statement Tuesday, DISH said Sinclair is asking for a "massive price increase."

"We carry more than 1,800 local broadcast stations nationwide. WCHS and WVAH and their owners are asking for more than any other station anywhere in the country," Dave Shull, senior vice president of programming for DISH, said in a written statement. "This goes beyond pure corporate greed -- it's profoundly insensitive to the needs of the public."

In a statement on its website, Sinclair said DISH will discontinue carrying 70 Sinclair stations Wednesday night.

The FCC created dictatorial monopolies that can get by with anything when they put this crazy "must carry" rule on local stations into effect. It's either pay through the butt to send them through or drop them and have crazy viewers whine and cry and bitch and say, "Waaahhh, I miss my super high-priced local station." It won't be long till the smart viewers say "ENOUGH!" and drop cable and satellite TV providers. Then where will Sinclair be? Crooks.

Our other stations in town and other cities I have traveled to have news anchors that are somewhat easy on eyes. But what is up with WOWK and that old man at 6 & 11pm news ? Is it bad lighting or something ? He looks 90 years old and scary. I usually don't watch their news unless the other stations have sports on during 6pm, but 5 minutes is all I can take of the old man and the lady with the mole face.
