Maine Lawmaker Raises Questions About FairPoint Subsidies

A Maine lawmaker is concerned about the prospect of millions of dollars in state subsidies being made available to FairPoint Communications at the same time the company is being investigated over the possible misuse of federal funds.

this poll was taken by a private company for Bristol news. we asked 1000 area people on a scale of 1-10 how do you rate fairpoint. 70 percent of participants said I will give them a one. 30 percent said I would give them minus five if I could. Bristol news will run this poll every week

I'm sure this lawyer and those like him are somehow related to competitors like Time Warner Cable.

I use FairPoint and have had fantastic internet connections and high speeds. But back when I used Time Warner the cable internet often got very slow in the late afternoons and evenings and all too often would freeze up and/or we'd get bumped off line. Since switching to FairPoint years ago I have had fantastic high speed internet on an "unshared" line that doesn't get throttled, bottle necked, and frozen like Time Warner does. I'd give FairPoint a sold "A" grad and give Time Warner a "C+" at best.
