My 2000 GTP fire happened on 3/13. I am still getting the runaround from GM. I had my car towed to a GM dealership at their request on 3/17 at my expense and still nothing. At first I was shuffled around from case worker to case worker and now they just ignore my calls. Their investigator was out a couple of weeks ago for pictures and still nothing! I'm going to call a lawyer this week if I don't here from them by Thursday.

I own a gran prix gt. I have a oil leak. What should I do . I also want to know If there are any recalls on my vehicle.

I have always taken my 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP to the Pontiac dealer for oil changes because they are supposed to know their vehicle better than anyone else and inspect your car for free on most things neeeded. I have insisted there was a burning smell for about 2 years or more. The dealer recommended I have the oil pan changed which I did by the dealer, lower manifold & upper manifold gaskets changed over a period of time and I have stilled smelled the leak. After the oil pan change by the dealer , I found a mechanic who was much more reasonable to have the other changes completed. Now Pontiac comes out with the recall notice hopefully identifying the true problem. Making and selling cars are all they care about and not how well their product is made anymore. The book value on the GTP is aroud $8500 so I emphathies with those whose vehicle are destroyed. A class action is needed.

My G/P GTP cought fire Feb/06 in my underground garage. I had just returned from having the oil changed...The car was a total write off, but I was able to get 400.00 from a local scrap yard..

My 2000 3.8L Grand Prix finally caught fire last week. I knew about the pending recall, but GM said they didn't have the parts to fix it. Now, I am hoofing-it until GM can assign an agent and decide what to do. They haven't promised how long that will take and won't even agree to give me a rental car while they figure it out. The good news is that I was able to put-out the fire and prevented a much bigger problem for everyone near the gas station where I was parked.

We are also interested in a class action law suit, they called this morning and told us the fire WAS due to the recall, but that they will not fix it, and offered $2,000.00 because they were being 'nice'.... still owe $3,000 on the car, 2's not gunna do anything!!!

Got my recall letter about a month ago and had been calling my local Pontiac dealer almost daily to see if they got the parts in. Finally dropped my GTP off this morning for the repair. I am so relieved because there has been a strong burning smell for quite some time now.

Good to hear that news. I had the same smell. I thought the smell was from someone who had farted |

I am surprised you didn't think it was your boyfriend's ass while you were given him the old durb in the backseat.

My friends Grand Prix just spontaneously caught on fire and was under our car port which also ended up lighting half of our home on fire before the fire dept. could arrive. Class Action PLEASE!

This recall is for a front valve cover gasket replacement. If you have been smelling burning oil for a while it is clear that you have not been taking your car in for regular service. Any good shop would inspect and rec needed repairs.

most of you are a bunch of bandwagon jumpers just making false claims on this site.

Our 2000 Buick Regal caught fire Saturday night while our son was driving it. He pulled over and called 911. The car was a total loss. We had liability only. I guess I'll check GM's website and dig further into this.

The entire engine compartment of my 1997 Grand Prix burned Feb of 2007. I just received the phone call from GM after being led to believe for the past 5 months answering the same questions over and over that I would be reimbursed. They are denying my claim because I did not save the car for a year. If anyone knows of a class action lawsuit please let me know. Count me in.email - kbius@riversideuniforms.com |
