If you are thinking of a gas hog for hauling, people are giving them away up north. You see low mileage trucks and SUVs for $2000 to $3000 sitting in people's front yards. With gas predicted to go to $7 a gallon, the price will drop to free.
It is hard to imagine America at $7 a gallon. I think that they will need to restrict the supply to get gas that high.
Time to dust off the motorcycle.

There is a twist here. If you buy a truck with a gas card, the card becomes more valuable as the price of gas increases. But your gas hog truck's value goes to nothing.
The gas card concept is worthwhile only if you absolutely must buy a truck and if that is the case, buy a low mileage used one for next to nothing.

I am on my third Chrysler and, to be fair, I have been more than happy with its comfort, speed etc.
Sadly, with gas nudging $4 a gallon, the novelty of a big car is fast wearing off and I will be downsizing with my next purchase as economy now rates as the number one issue rather than size and prestige etc.
Looking around, I am afraid that Toyota or Honda will now get my business as a 2 litre is more than adequate for my needs.
To me, Chrysler, GM and Ford are continuing to churn out these great gas-guzlers and I am not convinced that with rising petrol prices here (and probibly to stay) that they are building the right cars for todays marketplace.
They must change as I am having to.

Be assured.......... YOU are still paying for the gasoline.......... just not in the regular conventional way, but in a GIMMICKY way.
Chrysler is saying they will REIMBURSE for the DIFFERENCE in the cost of gasoline OVER $2.99 per gallon. And even at that, YOU have still paid for the amount you get REIMBURSED.

This is nothing more than a conspiracy between the atuomotive giant and the oil companies. Each scratching the other's back. Chrysler keeps its gas guzzling cars and trucks on the road, which it should have stopped producing five years ago. The oil company continues to sell more gas thereby being able to state the increase is due to demand.

Or, you could just shop for a car that gets good mileage and drive more sensibly, plan trips, carpool. That would make more difference than the $500 a year Chrysler is holding out, and actually help.

Considering how much gas a Chrysler guzzles, even their cars, it's still not a good enough offer.

Let me give Chrysler a clue---build a better product that lasts and does not lose half its value as soon as the wheels rotate. THAT might help sales. While they are at it, increase mileage.
I don't believe they have a single hybrid.
Even GM has a hybrid tahoe that gets nearly 20 around town and can tow 6000 pounds.

I am a mechanic and I can tell you I wouldn't own a chrysler product if they gave you free gas for 3 years. They are probably the worst car I have ever worked on period. They come in with paint faded or peeled off. They have a poor suspension system, There transmissions are the worst. The warranty expires at some point and your stuck paying for the repairs. It becomes so costly that you never really save anything. Its a shame. Like my boss tells us in meetings if it wasn't for Chrysler we would be out of business.

. You are so right, that works like the trade in philosophy. They say they give you a good deal with your trade in then they tag it on to the life of your car payments or other charges. The best way to go is to buy an economical car.

get out a little and experience something outside of this heat hole you call home....Boats for 500, cars for 1000....in some places, people actually try to help their neighbor and not screw him into lifelong debt.... I once had a woman give me a car. I was 35, 2 kids, and really happy. My father inlaw knew the woman and told her she should have sold it, drew up a contract, and made me pay $2500....he is not American.....
