What MINI-LINK product and revision are you using?
MINI-LINK Craft is used when you do RAU upgrades in MINI-LINK TN. This can be performed local or remote as long as you have USB or IP-DCN connection.

localupgrade.exe is an upgrade program used for local connection (Via serial port) to a MINI-LINK E or a MINI-LINK TN configured with older MMU2 boards (Not used for MINI-LINK TN configured with MMU2 B/C/D/E/F or H).

The actual file to upload to the RAU is typically called "CXCnnnnn_Ryyy.UPG" where nnnn and yyy will be specific for the RAU type and revision of the file. Contact your local Ericsson representative to get this.

Latest MINI-LINK Craft version is 2.9, aligned with MINI-LINK TN4.3FP release.
You will have to contact your local Ericsson representative to get it.

You will need to give some more information.
MINI-LINK is a wide range of equipment.
Is it MINI-LINK TN, what release and what configuration are you running?

It is a mini link tn 4.3.1. As of right now I have a loopback Plug in port tr3 on far end and a Ethernet test set in tr3 at near end. I am just trying to test across one hop for now to figure out what works. What configuration do you need to know?

First of all, what loopback are you using.
I hope you know that simply setting a loop as for a telecom DS1 will not work.
You need to use an instrument i far end as well, that at least can perform switch of mac-addresses.

Secondly, I still need to know more about the configuration. What plugin units are you using.
Wild guess is that you have either a NPU1C or NPU3B. You will then have to select either to run layer 1 or 2.
There are several steps to go, start with configuring the LAN ports, then WAN ports and if you use layer2 you will have to activate the switch and configure your VLAN:s.

Ok. We are using Ethernet through the hop, no ds1's. I have a loopback in tr2 and tr3 on far end. We are using npu3b. We have our LAN ports set up on Ethernet port switches 1-lan1/1/3, 2-LAN1/1/2, port 3-landcn1/1/2. Port 6-wan 1/1/101. We are using layer 2 connection and have our vlans set up. Our lan1/1/3 on port 1 is going to be our traffic LAN port, and port 2 which is LAN 1/1/2 will be our o&m port. So how many vlans do we need to have and which port members go into each. Do we need to set up a lag configuration too? And if so how do we set that up? And at the site I'm at I have an Ethernet tester in on port tr3 and the far end I have a physical loopback plug in port tr3. So I need to know if that loopback plug will work or If I need another test set at the far end? And if the loopback Plug will work how can I get the test set signal to go through the hop to see the plug. Because I've activated the ports but I can't get a signal back on the test set.

Physical loopback will not work, source and destination addresses will be the same in looped packets.
It might work with some broadcast mac addresses if you know what you are doing.
I stronlgy advice you to use remote tester or smart loopback device.

Number of VLANs to use depend on your network topology and traffic content.
Minimum is one VLAN for traffic.
Regarding the use of DCN carried over VLAN, i advice not to use it unless it is required in the network design.
It is only recommended by vendor for connection between top node and O&M center, not in an entire MINI-LINK network.

LAG is used for protection of physical Ethernet cables.
Configure if needed and if you know how to use it, else leave it.

If you mean traffic routing of E1:s or DS1:s, it is not supported via Console. You must use MINI-LINK Craft. Possibly it will work with EEM, that is login with an browser like Internet Explorer.

Hi there,

I just need to physically move the location of a mini link indoor unit which will involve a powerdown. What basic software can I use just to have a basic look at the unit to make sure everything comes back up and is there any need to powerdown/shutoff the link before unplugging?

If I just unplug the link and move it and connect it back up again will it still be enabled and transmitting or will I definitely have to log-in to start the link again?

I have all the software for the links I normally work with but I've been asked to move this one at the same time during a shutdown so just need to know if it can be done simply.

Very hard to say without knowing anything about the equipment you are refering to.

If you power down and move a MINI-LINK microwave equipment you will for sure need to do alignment again. Simple voltmeter can be used if you have a cable connected to aligment on RAU. But after this you will need to check alarm and status including reciver levels. To access different MINI-LINK equipment you will need.

MINI-LINK E : MINI-LINK Service Manager (MSM)
MINI-LINK TN/CN : MINI-LINK Craft (on older TN you can use Internet Explorer, aka "EEM")
MINI-LINK HC : Internet Explorer and correct Java version installed.

Most MINI-LINK E can also be handled via modem-fronts. That is, ther is a LED display plus push buttons available on the MMU:s.

So without having to change any parameters after the move, there is a small chance that you actually can move a MINI-LINK Equipment only by using a voltmeter and right cable for aligment port. But I would not recommend this at all since you will not know the A&S and what reciever levels you have.

Adding to previous answer.
I did not really answer it correctly. I answered on having to move the entire link, both indoor and outdoor.
If it is just the indoor equipment that needs to be moved I would recommend to still have a look at Alarm and status after the move.
But possibly this can be done by the O&M center remotely when link is up and running again.
The obvious risk is off course that you will not be able to see anything locally for fault finding without a MSM/Craft/IE if the link does not come up properly.

Hi Uno,

Thanks for the response. As you mention in the 2nd post it's just the IDU that needs to move. I'm sure the link will come back up but I just don't want to take the chance of not been able to do anything if it doesn't. Not sure exactly what type of link it is as I only got a quick look at it one day. It has 2 x MMU cards (34+2) with serial port O&M connectors and a SMU 16x2 card in the chassis also. I'm moving some other links and was asked to move this ODU while I'm there so would like to get SW before I do it or at least find a way to connect before I go to site.

Hi,
The equipment seem to be MINI-LINK E.
You will need a serial RS232 cable between your PC and the O&M port on any of the three units.
If you do not have any RS232 on you laptop, you need to get a USB to serial converter plus serial cable.
The software you need is called MSM, MINI-LINK Service Manager.
The can for instance be taken from the CD-kit called MSS, MINI-LINK Service Software.

Install on your PC before going to site and check that it works with your PC and USB-dongle.

In any case you will be able to see a summary alarm status and do basic settings via the MMU cards front panel. There is a LED display, a push button for execute and a small nob for scrolling up and down in the menu. Summary alarms will be seen as "A" or "B". Normally when no alarms is active and not operations are made for some time, the display will be blank.

Good luck
