Hi Shaken ; They won't allow a book like that ! You can find the info spread out over millions of web pages tho . If you look at where oil reserves have been discovered , you will see all are in and around the major volcanic systems of our Earth . Look at where drilling has and is taking place then overlap a volcanics map over it then an eq map over them , you will be surprised !
It's no secret that oil is found in places where there has been techtonic activity. Every check a map and see where Saudi Arabia lies? There are some pretty huge fault lines over there. Here in Michigan there are lots of little oil reserves trapped along the cracks created in the Michgan basin.... don't blame a conspiracy because of your ignorance.

Also, the plates don't shift because of hydrocarbon reserves lubing them up. It's far too hot at those depths for liquid oil to exist! Reserves are created and condense at much shallower depths along fault lines where pockets are created by shifting faults.

You should read up on geology before claiming the knowledge.

logarithmic, actually....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seismic_scale
It actually is A 2 is a 1 to the tenth power
A 3 is a 2 to the tenth power etc..
(Exponentially not logarithmically)
For those of you who took kindergarten math and failed. Please people, don't try to educate when you are yourself stupid.

Subduction is making the earth remain static i.e.not expanding well I am very glad to know that. Our earth has expanded to twice its original size over time. It will continue to expand for a long time to come.

Or you could try reading... maybe even from the link I posted:

"The local magnitude scale (ML), also popularly known as the Richter Scale, is a quantitative logarithmic scale."

Back to kindergarten for you :) Reading is FUNdamental!

You are correct, logarithmic. I used the left brain cell instead of the right.
