Full story: Columbus Dispatch

Sara J. Small cried when the sentence was announced. The young woman listened, expressionless, as a detective and then a judge said she hadn't shown remorse for the death of a man she struck while driving and texting.

It's scary to think how many more functional sociopaths like her are living and working in Columbus- imitation human beings with no moral sense or responsibility.

Two things are very seriously wrong. First, this woman who had been drinking is acting so self-involved that she has to be texting people rather than driving - already impaired.

Secondly, what in the heck is a mother of a 5 year old child doing out running around in bars at 3:30 in the morning.

If you are looking for the answer to what is going ( or has gone ) wrong with our country, here is the answer all rolled up in one self-centerd individual!!!

In Houston, Texas every single young woman/girl in on the cell phone when she is driving her car. Every single one, every single time. And these young women/girls don't give a crap about you or your child or your mother or your father. The only thing these young women/girls care about is how sexy they look, how much money they have, how expensive a car they drive, how beatiful their cell phone is, how important their job is and how much money their boyfriend/husband/girlfriend is making or is going to make. But the key here is "they do not give a crap about YOU". After all, this is the new and exciting 21st century. Grow up Ohio and get with the times. I for one think they should hang that girl and let her be an example to all other young women/girls.

Ted Kennedy did the exact same thing that this girl did and he did not have to serve any time. O.J. did even worse. This is A-Ma-Ri-Ka, right?

Why was this person only sentenced to 5 1/2 years?????? To me this says it's pretty much ok to go have some drinks, get behind the wheel of a car, text (further impairing your judgement as a driver) and kill someone. When will people in this country be held accountable for their actions?
I cannot imagine the pain the victim's family is feeling.

Part of the tragedy of this case is that the charges against Sara Small did not include texting. That's because there is as yet no law against texting or other forms of deliberate distraction.

Judge David Cain is to be commended for his actions on this case. He, obviously, was very familiar with this case and reviewed it. The judge saw Ms. Small's total lack of concern for the victim of her crime. Yes,the judge saw recognized her self centered attitude in court too. She killed a young man & left him to die on the road after a night of partying & drinking. She had her cellphone at hand & never called for help. It was all about her & how she going to get out of it without getting caught. She did not even say she was sorry to the family in court. The tears she shed was for herself when being taken to JAIL from the court. Thank You Judge Cain.

To stay on the subject. Some people go out & can be out late, & make smart choices. My husband and I can be at friends house until 4am catching up on grown up talk but there is always a DD. So what matters are the choices you make while you are out.
I am completely disgusted with this whole case. She Killed someone, so that she wouldn't get a DUI & loose her License for 6 months, and maybe end up in probation. they went easy on her which is crazy. She made the choices, let her learn from them, or in 5 years we will see it again, or maybe sooner because all of her friends will think they can get by with it too.

Her sentence has NOTHING to do with texting. The fact that she killed a person and left is what she should be sentenced for, and not for any remorse. Courts and judges kill me when they claim a person has no remorse. There is no law for remorse. She did a crime and should be punished for it, period.

Can't imagine what kind of a ' mother ' she is when she is so irresponsible and uncaring . That's the real problem today in our society - too many uncaring and irresponsible adults trying to be parents and leaders in our society . It's about ' Them '! Another reason why we have to be defensive minded while driving a vehicle or walking along a sidewalk ... No one else really cares about life .

When she became a mother, she gave up the right to go out and party with her friends. Her first responsibility is to her child, to be there for them and most of all, to set a good example. So far, she is batting 1000 at being a bad, irresponsible, SELFISH human being.

The problem with today's society is it's all about "ME" and who cares about anyone else. Whatever happened to people taking responsibility for their actions and thinking of others, especially when they hurt or kill someone else and she KNEW she hit a person, not a deer and definitely not a rock ! Give me a break. Can't even lie well *gag*

And this goes to show she knew what was going on, otherwise she wouldn't have gone home and washed the car, trying to get rid of evidence. She thought she hit a rock????? LIAR !!! Rocks don't leave blood on your car !!

I am also angered at her attorney. "Think of her son?" Why don't you put your sympathy where it belongs, with the child of Mr Hernandez child who will never see their father again. At least her son will see her again and probably in less than 5 years, which angers me, too. She should have gotten 5 years for DUI, 5 years for cleaning off evidence and 20 years for murder so instead of her crying tears for herself ~ because she deserves more than what she got ~ let her learn to shed tears for the man she killed and his family.

She's heartless and the 5 years she is away from her child might give her child a chance to learn to respect and love others, something the mother sure doesn't do !!!!

If she messed up her life, too bad. I'm more concerned about the other lives she damaged because they didn't deserve this ~ she got what she deserves and I have no sympathy for her at all.

I'm not saying its right but why dont we spend the same energy on getting illegal aliens out of this country......what a waste of our damn tax dollars.... .....

I know what she did and how she handled it was very wrong and unforgiving in people’s eyes and my own. I actually knew Sara and I know she is a very kind and loving and a great mother I can't believe that this happened. I know that she has to be so remorseful for what she did; she is a strong woman and hides her emotions. But please let this be a lesson to all of us not to text while driving I'm deff. going to keep this in my mind.

Daily Horoscope for May 19

Scorpio

There are days when you feel you can't say or do anything right, but happily this isn't one of them. In fact, it's a wonderful day in which everything goes well and it's remarkably easy to get on well with whoever happens to be around. Not that you want to spend your time with just any old person. You'd much rather get together with some close friends or that special someone in your life.
