Again....Public employees "doing their share" by ONLY accepting 1.25% raises....Oh My, can we feel their pain????
If SB 5 is repealed, they'll be walking the picket line "for the children" to regain the raises they "lost".......

Have you ever seen the pay scale for support staff in public schools? THEY MAKE VERY LITTLE!!!!!!!! Quit the hate towards public employees! It is sad that the government has brainwashed everyone into blaming public employees when they DID NOT cause the recession! You can look at the politicians and Wal Street if you would like to place blame. Jealous?? Quit complaining and go apply to a school district.

"Know the Facts" ... you said just apply to a school district. LOL!!! The Columbus Police had 4 positions open; they received 2700 applicants. For FOUR POSITIONS.

Columbus Public Schools had TWO positions - they received 1600 hundred.

Screw off. You're privileged to be taken care of by the taxpayers, and don't EVER forget it. People would give their eyeteeth to have the benefits and job security that you idiots do - and you not only don't appreciate it, but you constantly demand more more more more more.

And you aren't even good at your jobs, either.

Man, you are one angry beast. Public workers didn't cause this recession and aren't getting rich. Your attitude though is common "my life sucks so everyone else's should too". It is called Race to the Bottom. Problem is, your anger is misdirected. The Republicans know this and take advantage of fools like you to turn the public against whoever they can to push their ideology and make their buddies rich. You should be looking at who really caused this recession and Ohio's problems - and it isn't public workers.

Too assume public workers aren't sacrificing, aren't also taxpayers, aren't also feeling the pain shows how misguided your really are. You really think the lunch lady, english teacher, bus driver is getting rich? You realize that many already pay 15% or more for health care, many have spouses who lost jobs, many also are underwater on loans or losing homes?

I'll give the GOP one thing, they have done a masterful job manipulating you and the public into a divide and conquer strategy. History is full of despots who demonize a group of their own country as a way to gain power and push radical ideology. Get past the ranting and pissed off attitude, and you may realize that it is you who are losing out with the current GOP agenda.

Hey, mine went to India. At least I don't blame teachers like the rest of the Ohio sheep voters. People have to realize that the GOP and corporations are not on their side and never have been. Destroying public education as Kasich is doing only means we loose one more thing besides our good paying jobs. Ohio voters are like the frog in the frying pan - they keep ignoring the rising heat until they are cooked.

It is time people stop accepting this Race to the Bottom Kasich, Batchelder, and the GOP are using to undermine the Middle Class. 2012 and 2014 is a chance to take back Ohio before the Republicans completely destroy it.

This is a myth. Most private sector I know got 5% RAISES last year. I still see plenty of lexus in our area. Not every sector is affected equally in the recession. Construction and manufacturer were hammered. High tech in columbus is dying due outsourcing, not teachers. Banking is doing VERY well. Insurance not so bad either.

It is you who are crying "my life sucks, so everyone else's should too" - Race to the Bottom.

Like the previous poster said, if you think public sector jobs are so great, go get the license/training and become one.

It doesn't do any good getting a raise any anyway. The stinking thieves in city, state, county and federal are going to tax us to oblivian anyway. Not to mention the new United Nations carbon tax to help the world. Unless we fight back in some way we are doomed.

The average lunch lady is an unskilled worker who makes $16.50/hour, plus full taxpayer-backed pension, a 90% taxpayer paid for health plan, all the personal time off she could wish for AND a guarantee that she can never get fired for poor performance.

Yep. Real funny.

What's REALLY funny is the display of arrogance emitted by public sector employees. "Go get training to get a job like the lunch lady!" Or the ever-popular "We teach our children! All this money isn't for me, it's for the kids! Don't you love your kids?!" And my favorite: "I *deserve* my pay and benefits. You can't/won't/aren't smart enough to do the job *I* do, peon."

You are all clueless as to how bad it is. A full quarter of our homes are sitting empty due to job loss and foreclosure, and you make light of this? You have the balls to demand moremoremoremore? You surround yourself with fellow gubment workers and eventually forget that 85% of the world doesn't live like that.

You're clueless. Be grateful for what you have, and stop bitching about everything all the time. You could be living in your car, or making trips to the food pantry like so many others who contribute to your lifestyle.

What I'm saying makes you uncomfortable, because for so long your union drones have told you that the rich are the bad guys. Now, thanks to your dear leader Obama, having good benefits and job security makes you wealthy, and YOU are the rich guys.

Sad but true. But it's so much more productive to fight over pieces of the pie, rather than asking why the pie itself keeps shrinking.

But hey! As long as you get yours, right?

Right.

What percentage of jobs are union? Making 16.50 doesn't make one "rich". Bill Gates is "rich". Bill Clinton is "rich" Members of Congress are "rich" I work for a non government company and I am not "rich". Most people are not "rich". The thieves and weasels in government and banking who are "rich" continue to still our money, happiness, and Liberty on a daily basis. Lets fight them.

I love my fellow tea party member, one side we cry about socialism and then complain how other people's make more than us. I'm too afraid to ask my boss for a raise in private sector so I just have to kiss up to him for a raise unlike those union thugs who has the testicular fortitude to stand up for their workers right. I am the reason why middle class are totally destroyed because of my blind ignorant belief in some bs corporate welfare.

I can only speak to the CPD part of your rant and I know that is "bovine scatology". Unlike the suburba, CPD doesn't post vacancies to be filled by applicants. There are more than "4 positions" to be filled. The division is short by about 100 officers.
Nice try. I don't know what "eyeteeth" are but that maybe why you haven't passed CPD's testing process.

Why don't you get a job as a waiter at any restaurants in the area. If things are so bad, why is it that when I drive past any restaurant on a Thur, Fri or Sat night, they are packed? I am a union cop and I can't take my family to restaurants, we stay in and actually cook our own meals. My wife works and I work several special duty jobs, but I also put money towards a retirement nest egg and I save at least 10% of my checks. Funny, we also didn't over-buy with our house and we don't drive anything but Ford cars. Wait, I know that its hard to deal with people that actually live within their means, but why am I blamed for the "full quarter of the houses sitting empty"? Pay your bills and don't spend more than you make.
Oh, by the way, I served in the US Army, got the GI Bill and paid my own way through college, while working several jobs to do so. Maybe that is why I am where I am now, I work hard and have always worked hard to get where I want to be, on my own, with no one else to thank or blame.

"Boo Hoo." Your chosen moniker is exactly the kind of public employee entitlement mindset that I was talking about. Commenting on a busy restaurant parking lot as proof of private sector wellness is laughable. I'd wager that most of those patrons are state employees anyway, taking time off from demanding moremoremore at the statehouse. But I digress.

The 4 CPD positions were for dispatchers, and yes, Boo, there were *more* than 2700 applicants for them. If you want to talk about open spots for CPD officers, I'll refer you to the 40-page wait list of people trying to get in.

By the way, if you got a GI Bill then you did not pay your own way through college. It's just another form of taxpayer support. That isn't to say our military doesn't earn it, but it is what it is nonetheless. You've essentially gone your entire adult life in one form or another of the public sector. I'm not saying that's a bad thing necessarily, but explains why don't know how it is out here.

Finally, that you are ABLE to put money towards your retirement illustrates how much better off you are than most. You're ABLE to "sign up" for extra hours. That's great for you and your family, but remember that situations like yours are the exception, not the rule. Most people are struggling just to stay in their homes, and don't have the luxury of thinking about retirement. Don't you dare make light of that suffering.

Please understand that "Republican" and "GOP" can easily be switched for "Democrats". Their protests about being for the people and not in bed with Wall Street is a an example of their manipulation.

Very Good Post! I am a American First! As for your Statement here, It is Very True for Both Parties. Wall Street donates BIG $$$$ to Both sides! When it looks like one or the other is in the lead they Push for the Winner!

I do believe that during the Pres. Clinton Years there were more Jobs created than all the years combined of Reagan, Bush 1, and Bush 2.

Quit and Twit Palin's statement "I am for Joe the Plumber" was Laughable! During the reign of GOP Jan 1995 to Jan 2007 "Contract With America?" The GOP Deregulated more Financial Laws than ever! That's what got us in this Economic Mess!

Yes, Yes there were also Democrats who Helped also!!
