Oh man, what are they thinking Dash, Diana and Zahid are my favorites. Poor Dash, here he goes again. I think he's the only on air personality who's worked for all 4 stations. BEST OF LUCK to all of you. Why didn't they get rid of Grace Lee and Stacy Loe? They're irritating.

Suggest this headline be changed until those named are confirmed by someone who will go on the record.

By reading this story's mention that "employees who publicly discuss layoffs would lose the [severance] pay," you really box in the 2 who are named because if they confirm/no comment they risk the severance if in fact they're being laid off.

Howard and Diane were among my favorite news anchors when I was in Hawaii. Diane is so easy on the eyes and Howard's UH background made him real. Best luck to them and all others who are being laid off.

KGMB needs to lay off Guy Hagi. He is irritating with his constant smirks. He is not very professional in his attitude. Sherry Shima should be kept instead.

I won't miss them. Put on some leggy women in short skirts, like FOX does, and all will be well.

Kim had not read his exit documents but may have imperiled his severance, as industry sources have said employees who publicly discuss layoffs would lose the pay. He expected his last day to be Nov. 1.

Sounds like a contridiction of sorts, he should get a legal interpretation from an expert in employment law. What a travesy of justice, especially coming from a media whose primary function is to bring news to the public, yet adhere to censorship of its employees about to be laid off!

If KHNL-TV Leland Kim DID NOT read his exit documents, then how can this industry void his severance pay? "implied" or other vague "interpretation" are NOT grounds for denying him his due...it should be done by a legal expert.

still it is sad to see all these layoffs. in the end it hurts everyone. and i don't like these mergers. it's bad enough we cannot get fair and accurate and unbiased reporting!!!
i am just sick of the media anyway. bleh.

Once again, clueless managers are making stupid decisions, laying off their best people versus doing their job to reduce overhead. IE reduce way, way over budget salaries for behind the screens management that do nothing to improve television, a constant black hole of finances. No problem for the viewers, we'll just switch to other channels and watch a more professionally run new program. Once again clueless, stupid people are the ones in the news for making decisions that make no sense at all. Ahhh another day in the little third world of clueless, third world, television station managment.

poor Shari Shima getting the pink slip-she's a weather reporter professional, but in the past years, apparently her health wasn't fairing too well and it has shown it's toll with her advanced aging looks (baggy eye lids, thinning hair & weight lost).

In the TV news business it's all about having good looks and the way Shari has looked lately, she should hang up the TV news and move on to radio broadcasting.

Cutie Stephanie Lum is a keeper and so is Mari-Ela David.

btw, has anyone notice that Liz Chun has packed on some pounds?

I knew most of the people at KHNL was being layed off. The reporters could never get the attention of the viewers. Good luck to them all.
