She was teaching bigotry to the children in her class! There are other derogatory remarks that they reference in the article also! Bottom line she has no business teaching children bigotry and hate, you know just like you are now as an adult! I'm sure your bigotry was influenced in your youth by your parents and other bigots! You couldn't be more wrong! Hope that helps!
What the bigots and anti-gays refuse to admit is that her comments could result in physical violence against children and adults. Gay bashing is still a very popular past-time for many, and when adults who are in these types of positions don't stop to consider the consequences of their statements, they put people in harm's way. I have seen numerous related stories about this where Sullivan High School students have commented about the abuse they are now receiving from children who go to other schools.

One other thing that needs mentioning. It was heterosexuals who decided she needed to be reprimanded. Don't blame the gays and lesbians.

So, I took your advice and here is what I found..
A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world, based on a body of knowledge that has been repeatedly confirmed through observation and experiment.
Observation is either an activity of a living being, such as a human, consisting of receiving knowledge of the outside world through the senses, or the recording of data using scientific instruments.
An experiment is a methodical procedure carried out with the goal of verifying, falsifying, or establishing the validity of a hypothesis
So, from what I understand, evolution takes many thousands to millions of years. If so, how can it be observed? How can accurate data be determined? Do they have a step by step breakdown of how humans evolved from primordial ooze? No, they do not. They claim that humans and apes evolved from a common ancestor, can they demonstrate where and why by natural selection humans and apes deviated in their evolutionary paths? OK, enough on that.
How can they carry out a methodical procedure to verify, falsify, or establish validity something that takes a minimum of thousands of generations? Has science been able to show simple single cell organisms with a rapid generational cycle evolve into multi-cellular organism by controlling and changing their environment? Not to my knowledge.
So, with all of that, how can evolution be considered a scientific theory? Please explain that to me.
I am also curious, if you deny the existence of GOD, why would have satan in your name?
The movie "Inherit the Wind" did and excellent job in showing that the story of Genesis and the theory of evolution need not be mutually exclusive. If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend it.
As far as Lilith is concerned, a person who worships Satan doesn't necessarily deny the existence of God. In fact most Satan Worshipers acknowledge the "balancing force of nature" (God). They have simply chosen to worship the being that many Christians themselves say controls this world.

I've known a lot of Christian pastors over the years, and I haven't met one yet who says that the theory of evolution is incompatible with the bible.

How could they? An honest answer would require public denial of what they've supported all their lives. That would be an embarrassment, and a game-changing loss of their priestly livelihood.

Travis apparently couldn't take anymore scientific analysis of the same belief he shares with his pastors, and ditched the conversation. I don't blame him.

Evolution shows how the multitude of species developed from simpler, single-celled life. It has NO ROOM for magical people that popped up out of the dirt, or out of each other's ribs. There's no botanical phylum for trees that carry the knowledge of good and evil within their fruit. No taxonomic order of alethinophidia includes a larynx, or a brain capable of reproducing speech. In other words, snakes don't talk.

If the snake was actually Satan, then how did God punish the serpent by making him crawl on his belly? How do you punish a snake, by turning it into a snake? Satan is seen elsewhere in the Bible, NOT crawling on his belly. Did God's curse just not stick? Did Satan wiggle out of it somehow? Why wasn't he later, and forever, seen crawling on his belly eating dust?

Genesis is scientifically-incorrect myth from page one. A Christian CAN say that they believe in a God who started the universe, and then directed evolution to take place as we understand it. But this doesn't allow for magic people in a magic garden with magic fruit trees and magic talking animals. Without these magic people, there's no original sin. Without these sins, there's no need for "salvation". And then, a 1st Century Jew named Jesus died for no reason at all.

It's all just mental gymnastics, which one engages to avoid the obvious non-mythical processes of life, driven by the irrational fears of Hell instilled in them since childhood, the most fearfully vulnerable time of life. HONEST, objective people move PAST religion, past these childhood fears, and into realistic thinking with the naturalistic evidence that we have at hand.

Magic is not, and CANNOT, be a part of it. Not in properly well-adjusted grown-ups. Not in those who care about truths separated from myths.

Funny because scientists such as astronomers and cosmologists are now using "magic" to explain things. They call it "dark matter" and "dark energy" to explain te acceleration of galaxies, because the laws of gravity say they should be slowing instead. If you ask them exactly what is "dark matter" and "dark energy", they have no explanation whatsoever; i.e. it's "magic".

I am not discrediting actual science, what I am trying to point out is that evolution is a THEORY. It cannot be proven or replicated, so it is NOT fact. I realise that the Bible cannot not be proven either. This is the place where I say you believe your "science" and I'll believe my Book!.simple as that.
Well there is no scientific proof that being gay is evil in origin or deserving of less than equal rights.

These terms are placeholders for NATURAL processes that we just don't understand yet. They still represent a reach toward naturalistic explanations. They aren't "magic", not by any definition of the word. No scientist considers them magical, any more than "aether" was considered magical before we understood how electromagnetic waves traveled. Dark matter and energy will be understood in time, and better explained. And given better names.

Just because something isn't yet fully understood, doesn't make it "magic". Lightning was once poorly understood, and then we learned about it. That doesn't mean that it was ONCE magic, and then BECAME nature. It was ALWAYS nature. The problem was with people who decided, out of ignorance, that it was an angry Zeus hurling the bolts in his fury. This "explanation" came with absolutely NO effort to directly examine or understand the phenomenon. Mountains of research are being stacked up on dark matter and energy. These investigative efforts are underway, and will eventually bear out conclusions.

This is not true with the story of the Garden of Eden. You will NEVER be able to conduct a lick of research showing how a fruit tree can carry the knowledge of good and evil within its fruit. A conversation with a snake will NEVER be replicated or demonstrated. These are MYTHS, and there are no natural processes that could make them happen, nor have there EVER been. Attempts to re-create Noah's voyage, without the assistance of modern technology, modern shipbuilding, or modern animal collection procedures, will ALWAYS be doomed to failure. Reducing world wildlife down to two of each predator and two of each prey (or even seven) would wipe them all OUT, not re-seed them.

You can study how these stories came to BE, and how they may have influenced ancient and modern cultures, but not how they could have happened. The real world simply does not allow for it. There may be historical facts within the Bible, and nuggets of human wisdom that had been collected at that point in history (it would be surprising if these things WEREN'T in there), but the Bible CANNOT be considered ENTIRELY historic, nor entirely true. No more than the Quran, the Brothers Grimm, or Lost.

And once you begin pulling at the mythological threads, and realize that the Bible is NOT a "divinely" inspired source of ultimate truth, then it can be allocated to quaint antiquity, as the ancient artifact that it is. REAL truth comes from study, from investigation and testing and measuring, from empirical data. Reliable knowledge is repeatable and (very important!) falsifiable. Even the things we don't fully understand yet are not magic, and never were, and never will be. The natural world is made of natural processes. The SUPERnatural is only a collection of stories which, while interesting and often instructive, do not contain any facts about how reality works.

And these stories have taken hold in so many people because of FEAR. Fear of death, the unknown ending. Fear of Hell, the promised eternal torture awaiting the doubtful or disobdient. Teach these ideas to children, and they are believed without question, and hard to shake even in adulthood. But we don't need to be obedient to these ideas to have happy lives. There are certainly rules we should live by if we want to have thriving societies, but modern humans have crafted FAR better rules than what the Bible lays out for us. Our justice system exceeds that of God's. If he were TRULY all-knowing, all-powerful and all-loving, the Bible would be a VERY different book.

Good point. There is no way to really tell if the threatening e-mails came from someone gay or lesbian or from someone pretending to represent gays and lesbians.

In any case I hope whoever sent them faces the full consequences of the law.

And Avert also says that the vast majority of Aid's cases world wide are of a heterosexual nature! Now what, are you going to condemn all the heterosexuals now to be fair? All the women and children also that are afflicted with this terrible disease that doesn't know if a person is gay or straight? By the way,Lesbians have the lowest rate of H.I.V. of all groups!
