An international group known as Idle No More organized a "flash mob" of about 100 people at Animas Valley Mall Wednesday evening to raise awareness on issues affecting native peoples in Canada.

The rally was organized by local citizens in the Farmington/Bloomfield/Shiprock area, in response to the now-global Idle No More movement. The rally was not organized specifically by Canadian Idle No More organizers but as a show of solidarity and support for our Canadian First Nations brothers and sisters and for Chief Therese Spence, now in a 27 day hunger strike to draw awareness for the need to have a meeting with Prime Minister Stephen Harper over the omnibus bill C-45 which took lands and water rights from the First Nations. Similar events continue to be held in nearly all the United States and around the world, in the Ukraine, New Zealand, Australia, Cairo, Scotland, England, France, Japan, and Germany.
