Am I reading this story wrong or does it basically say Gundrum violated his probation, Nolan the probation officer recommended he be discharged from
probation after serving 15 days???? As in not required to report to a probation officer after serving 15 days?????

Vermont Justice for you! Waste taxpayer money on lawyers to try these dirt bags, then kick them lose to re-offend. The Vermont way of life is slipping away very quickly. Our judges simply do not care about the innocent.

What totally boggles my mind is Bennington has the police resources of a city of 60,000 people and the crime seems to be out of control...

Chapter 2

64.

"To deter more effectually from the commission of crimes, by continued visible punishments of long duration, and to make sanguinary punishments less necessary, means ought to be provided for punishing by hard labor, those who shall be convicted of crimes not capital, whereby the criminal shall be employed for the benefit of the public, or for the reparation of injuries done to private persons: and all persons at proper times ought to be permitted to see them at their labor."

Not the last time we will hear about Jacob Shortt, 19, of Route 7A in Arlington!

How could Joshua Gundrum, 28, of Harwood Hill Road in Bennington be placed on probation for a charge of violating the sex offender registry when he is not even on the list?

Check it out!

RV, on a serious note with no BS, when are these guys required to register, ie., is there a time frame, do the cops do it or is it up to the individual convicted to register him or her self???

That is no where NEAR the full registry. That is only those deemed to be the most dangerous offenders. There are hundreds not on the public list.

Well the judge gave Shortt just enough rope to hang himself. Sure didn't take long. Bet he gets out of jail again and they give him another chance. How long will taxpayers money be wasted taking him to court and back and forth to graybar.

Well folks,it is time to give Vermont back to the cows! A cow has more sense than the judges!
These guys violate the conditions of release that they agreed to to remain free, then a judge, knowing that they are sex offenders sets them free yet again to prey on your children and friends!
You may want to consider protesting in front of these judges homes!
Then again you may want to consider doing nothing but whining on Topix!

You need to put the blame where it lies.
Your Legislators do not want to crowd your jails.

They believe that emptying the jails of these offenders will save you money and rehabilitate the offender. In fact, it does neither.

Discuss this issue with them. Write them, call them.

Jacob has made mistakes yeah.. But he really isn't that bad of a kid. Some of his charges where not even true. I don't know exactlly what your problem is. But you need to step off as quick as you tried to step on this.. It appears you really don't even know what you are talking about,,

Mindy-Joe usually has these guys pegged wrong. She knows most of them, but she really doesn't 'know' them, if you know what I mean.

Not so sure how well you know him ... but "that bad of a kid" considering what he's been convicted of and what he continues to do..... those two don't mesh.

And, yes, I know him personally. And yes I know he's "that bad of a kid"
