In person.
Around the world.
On our dime.
Again.
Wonder what Spongeworthless Don will bring back this time? Especially from Shanghai?(scratch, scratch)
Mebbe a sideline recruiting trip... a couple favorite pan-pan girls or Reeperbahn brothel babes for Lisa's. Complete with letters of The Don Juan's personal endorsement.

And the Mayor is flying around the world with his entourage (on our dime scratch that our $$$$$) Can anyone say IMPEACH!!! |

For all these years in office of Mayor, and all these overseas trips on our dime, what in hell has this bum got to show for it all?
Yea, sake. And he'll probably try sneakin' it through. *** A hundred years ago in Akron, let me tell you how our politically-active grandparents would've publicly "impeached" characters like Sponge Don and Kingfish Marco... Home values droppin' like Donte Farmer... |

Just when I thought I had seen the end of the slaps-in-the-face for my old city. LOOK people, if Bridgestone-Firestone is openly telling you that "the City of Akron's current facility is unsuitable for their ongoing operations" that is telling you something! They're DEFINITELY not interested in bringing anymore jobs or business to Akron, Slow-hio! It's over already! Take your heads out of the sand, open up your eyes & get the h*** out of there while you still have some life left in your gullible body! Otherwise, continue to suffer at the cost of your own ignorance. I took my family and relocated 7-years ago just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Best decision I ever made! Trust me, you'll be really glad you did.

How much did the trip for Plusquellic and other city officals cost the tax payers of Akron for this courtesy call on the officals in Japan at Bridgestone Firestone? Who will they be meet with in Germany and Shanghai?
|
|
It's "waste". You must be a graduate of Akron Public Schools. |

This is how things get done --
In order to sell a city, you need to meet with the people who make the ultimate decisions. If it cost the city a couple of thousand dollars for the Mayor to make a personal pitch to Bridgestone's top officials, and it saves hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars in the local economy, then it's an investment well worth making! Sitting on your hands and hoping the jobs will come here is the same strategy that Cleveland, Detroit, Youngstown, and Toledo took, and look what it got them -- as opposed to cities like Chicago, Raleigh, Atlanta, and Charlotte, who went out and aggressively marketed their cities to leaders in the business world, and are now reaping the benefits. Successful cities market themselves to businesses -- so kudos to the Mayor for trying to protect our jobs. |

Amen. Most of those previous "posters" are followers, not leaders. They do not know what it takes to attract and keep big business. |

I have to agree. Akron is a total S&&t hole. I grew up in Akron from the mid 70s to '88 when I moved away. I moved back to Akron in 2006 and quickly remembered why i left the first time.
I live in Alabama now and it's so nice!

A number of years ago Firestone wanted to close off Firestone Parkway to the North to make a more "campus like" atmosphere. The trade off was to be Firestone keeping jobs in Akron. They fired/layed off 500 people anyway. Don said That's it! Screw 'em. I really don't think that he's going to make anymore concessions to Firestone. He's just loading up on cheap Japanese hand guns for Marco.

Oh would you people shut up!!! It costs money to make money!! If Mayor P has to fly to Japan to keep busineses in the area and to help create a thriving economy then he should do it. Have you ever been to Japan?? It isnt a resort. All the food tastes like dirt. The dude can't win for trying.

What a waist? The Mayor isnt fat. He doesnt have a big waist. What are you talking about? Oh... you meant WASTE. dummy. |

Wonder if anyone can call a locksmith while he's gone. Maybe do a little switcheroo down there in the Ivory tower?

With an attitude like that, maybe that really was dirt they were feeding you. Didn't you hear them whispering "ugly Ah-mare-ih-cahn" behind your back? woof |
|
He should really be more concerned with the crimes in the city. With the tax and crime rates on the rise, why would any company stay here? He needs to work at home first. |

It has nothing to do with my attitude, DUKE. It's a fact. They put a beet in water and call it the main course. But back to the point, the only way to make money is to sell! You can't always do that by sitting on your toosh. Even you know that. And, I am sure Duke is your dog's name. |
